something in the water vs computer blue 'Something in the Water(Does Not Compute)' and 'Computer Blue' are two of his coldest yet most interesting songs IMO. I love both tracks but I'd have to give the edge to 'Computer Blue' because of its melodic guitar solo and interesting lead into the bridge . Which do you prefer and why? What about the live versions?

I don't think either of them is cold! I love both - maybe Computer Blue has the slight edge. Both songs are amazing! Shut up already, damn.

This is an interesting question because they have a similar mood. Two different songs that are both about "The Love that is being found," just isn't quite right.
Something in the water they drink...don't compute... Until I find the righteous one...Computer Blue... I Love both songs, yet, "Something in the Water," has sentimental value to me...The line..."I guess U think I'm just another one of Ur fans." was a lyric Prince sang that didn't compute with me in 1983..and it still doesn't compute with me now. I've been drinking from the "Pure Prince Fan Fountain." "The Lion Sleeps Tonight...

I prefer Computer Blue. I love the voice intro and the musical intro and I really dig the cool verses.
For example: I love how he sings these lines in bold differently: where is my love life? where can it be? there must be something wrong with the machinery where is my love life? tell me, where has it gone? somebody please please tell me what the hell is wrong

Love them both! However, "Something In The Water" is one of my favorite songs, I prefer it over "Computer Blue".

Neither song slapped me in the face upon first spin of their respective albums, but both have become favorites over the years.
That said, I gotta give it to Computer Blue. Especially the long version. If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.

That is such a difficult choice.
I was just about to select 'something in the water' until I remembered the funk part in the extended version of computer blue. I do love the scream in 'SITW' though.. I really cant choose... I'd never noticed the link between these two songs before now.

for me Computer Blue is a 10, especially hearing the story behind the creation, something become even more common during those years for Prince.
Something In the Water for me is an 8 But the version performed at 1st Avenue 6.7.1984 is a 10 different delivery of the song and totally raw and wild. I love every timed version of Computer Blue, this song just does it for me, and the performance in the movie is my favorite of all time. Dangerous Love is what I think of those 2 songs.
