Ex-traor-di-NAA-REEE-HEEE... WHY oh WHY did Prince choose this particular recording of Extraordinary for ONA-L!?? I think back to how pure & flawless his voice is on every version of Avalanche I've ever heard - breathtaking. Extraordinary is such a great song, I want people to be taken aback by this song as well! Maybe they are & I'm the only one trippin' (I see it's on lots of your lists of "fave ONA-L! songs) but every time I listen to it I'm thinking, "Nice, but he's got better." Did he choose it just b/c the music was so great that night? As another way to showcase Candy? Was he just TOO impressed with his "break the hook down by syllable & then add another syllable" style of singing? I never met you, but I LOVE you & I will forever!! Thank you for being YOU - my little Princey, the best to EVER do it

Your so right, unfortunately I don't have the awnser either.
And then the song 'one nite alone'! Why such a short version ?? It's so beautiful !! Futuristic Fantasy

EXACTLY!! That broke my heart - he names the bloody tour after the song but can only spend 30 or so seconds on it (that is when he's not omitting it completely)?? I never met you, but I LOVE you & I will forever!! Thank you for being YOU - my little Princey, the best to EVER do it

Yes, but that's Prince and I actually like it > 30 seconds of title track - but it's a good introduction to the intimate piano part IMO.

Aaaah and the way he sings it, it's killing me !! It just makes you wish he did the whole song !! Futuristic Fantasy

I think he just loves to keep us wanting (if he's conscious of any of this shit, lol). He'll never give us something COMPLETELY satisfying - what would we cream our pants about then?? Had I put ONA-L! together I would have included:
Everything else is cool, I'm just nitpicking. I'm REALLY happy w/ this set... I never met you, but I LOVE you & I will forever!! Thank you for being YOU - my little Princey, the best to EVER do it

Hhmm yeap !I also liked to have "sign o the time" on it and there are def. better guitar solo's for "when you were mine"
And I would've liked to hear the audiance just a bit louder, I think they are pulled away back too far !! Futuristic Fantasy

You should have been at the Berlin concert. He sang the of Xtraordinary a little different there, instead of holding the note ("eeextraaaooordiiinaaaryyy..."), he sang some crazy scat singing! Stunning!

Anyway I think the best would have been if he would have choosen one complete concert. You because of the atmosphere, the drive, etc, etc.
But on the other hand I think we would then complain about his choice as well. I would choose the Oberhausen show, some would say LA was best, others would prefer Portland and so on and so on. Basically he should release every concert Peace

yeah, i gotta agree with u on that one...and am i the only one who thought that p sounded a lil bit rough on "iwbyl"?

True Dat...teh Berlin Version of Xtraordinary was the Bomb... Right! That whole show was the bomb! Especially that crazy-ass jam that started with 1+1+1is3 and then went into some P-Funk stuff...

I actually like that he mixes it up & selects from different shows. And since he bothered to do that, it was the perfect opportunity to choose a better version of this song. It's great every time, so it can't be that hard to choose times when the audience was hot, the band was hot, & Prince was on fire I never met you, but I LOVE you & I will forever!! Candy Dulfer is my boo...

The version of 'Xenophobia' from the Chicago show is still the best one I've heard yet.

I'll have to give it another listen. The one on the album is VERY good IMO, I love it when he says, "Too bad..." I never met you, but I LOVE you & I will forever!! Thank you for being YOU - my little Princey, the best to EVER do it

At first I thought he should have done one complete concert
but I think he was trying to make everybody happy.

I dont have any major complaints, but Ive definitely heard better guitar solos for When You Were Mine. The lack of A case of you, the lack of crowd noise, and the version of 1+1+1 is 3 without Love Rollercoaster all detract from the overall experience.
That said though its still a fantastic album.

That said though its still a fantastic album. 1+1+1 is 3 (live version) has officially grown on me this week, lol. Hearing those first 3 notes from Love Rollercoaster JUST KILLS ME!!! But understand... I never met you, but I LOVE you & I will forever!! Thank you for being YOU - my little Princey, the best to EVER do it

I don't like this song. You are not my "friend" because you threaten my security.

What about the album version of "Old Friends 4 Sale"... we all know the original vesion was far better.
And the album version of Endorphinmachine wasn't as good as the original. *sigh*

Yes the Berlin version of 1+1+1=3 was the bomb. I just heard it yesterday and it is too funky. They start off doing the regular version worth a little Housequake added, and then they slow it done to some serious funk and on this Renato playing reminds me of Pfunk's master keyboardist Bernie Worrell. Also on top of that the horn section plays a little of Parliamnet's Up For The Down Stroke. Funky Indeed!!!
