Alphabet St. is pure dope, imo. It looks like it is mainly playback. Sheila or Cat forgets to lip-sync is my conclusion if you look at P{rince's face just before the end of the song. It just does not have the same great live feeling the rest of the concert has.

It just does not have the same great live feeling the rest of the concert has. You're not looking or listening closely enough! Its live vocals (except for some backing vocals - something Prince uses throughout the concert (pre-recorded vocals that is), live guitar, live bass, live keys and some live percussion from Sheila. Sheila and Cat's vocals are also clearly live! The only other thing that is on the DAT is the main rhythm section - I'd expect that's mainly due to the choreography, so all the band can be together for the finale and allowing Sheila to be up and dancing/singing/playing percussion and then being able to join Prince and Cat in the departure on the car. Prince uses DATs all the time for some elements of the music (principally his own backing vocals - the man, despite his talents, can only do one voice at a time!) - never because either he or any of his band are unable to play the music! Its only ever to serve other aspects of the show. I also don't see this "look" you speak of from Prince to the girls - and, seeing as no-one is lip-synching anyway, why would he? The only thing I see towards the end of the song is Sheila give Cat a glance (and then a smile) as they both miss their synchronised dance step cue, wait a few beats and then make sure they start it together ...we have only scratched the surface of what the mind can do...

Not only are the song arrangements outstanding but the energy from the European crowd gives the concert an entirely different feel from concerts in the United States.
The energy of the Lovesexy concerts was pretty crazy no matter what country they played. eYe kNOw ∞ ʀ⁅VERB⁆я ∞

Livesexy is THE BEST !!
It made me like the album even more...sure there maybe better songs or albums but the whole Lovesexy experience was great!!! I had a tape from the concert (it was broadcasted on tv) and listened 2 it more than his albums. Many years later I have the best of the concert on CD and last year in finally found the concert somewhere and put it on DVD. The piano medley is great, the beginning of the second part "Europe let's do something" with I know/Lovesexy/GlamSlam is GREAT!! and the classix Let's go/Pr and 1999....great! Superfunkycal.../Bob George = NICE.This version of The Cross is the best and I wish U heaven is fun! And so and on.....LIVESEXY IS PRINCE AT HIS BEST !!! [Edited 11/20/09 3:21am] Love4oneanother

But still to me it does not have the feel, spirit, flow, whatever as the rest of the concert. Wonder what it is then.

i remember watching it on tv , it was the best show ever better than live aid or any other concerts, i recorded it on my old betamax video and watched it again and again , it was on channel 4 and to my amazement it seemed to go virtually unnoticed , it was a mindblowing performance by someone who was at his peak.

It was seeing the Lovesexy show on Channel 4 that began my lifelong love of Prince as a musician.
