Quite a few of Prince's lyrics are cringeworthy. I think many are too hastily written. Add to that a certain superficiality and you have lyrics that don't say much. Certainly one of the weaker aspects of the man's work! It especially freaks me out that there's no development over time or a growing complexity - his latest albums are full of really silly lyrics that simply make me lose interest. It seems I'm not alone in that. Perni L

I guess the lyric that catches me off guard is..."He trips her and grinds her, right there on the floor." from "Pheromone." Which is one of Prince's sexiest songs. I do respect the talent that Prince has to be a turn-on in music. He's damn good at it.

The opening lyrics to "Chocolate Box". I like the song overall, but the opening is so cliche and sound like something some generic lame-o rapper would do. I don't know, good song, poor opening.
