Listening to a Prince song I haven't listened to in ten years, because it was too painful---"I Hate U" off the Gold Experience, which of course, is about anything other than hate...shows the ambivalence of emotions in a deep relationship and the flip-side relationship of love...the love/hate, yin/yang component...and even after all these years...it brings tears to my eyes. Would like to know what other fans experiences are!

I Hate You
I Love You but I Don't Trust You

Strongest standouts for me.
Peace ... & Stay Funky ...

Strange Relationship surely!
It describes one long term relationship I've had so accurately!

"She's Always In My Hair"

Not for the words, but because, I went off like a kid in a candy store when I first heard the extended remix on the radio. The problem was, I was having a morning romp with my then girlfriend. In mid-stroke, when I thought the song was winding down, thinking "how great is it to be with this fine woman, in the morning at that, and hearing a Prince tune on the radio?"
Then, the guitar part kicks in...I was like, "wtf"? I stopped, literally mid-stroke, sat up, told her to be quiet, and listened. At the end I was like, "holy fuck, that shit was tight!" Not the girl, but the song. She promptly screamed "what the fuck is wrong with you, are you gay? Do you love Prince or something?" Right then I knew she would never understand. I got up, dressed, and drove to the nearest wrecka stow to pick up the 12".

She tried to spread a rumor that I was gay.

This question reminds me of Prince's comment at what I believe was the 2nd night of the musicology shows at the Garden in NYC... something to the effect of ladies your man is going to love me tonight (because of the hot sexy mood he gets us women in w/ his ballads). Nothing can be more true. I have been w/ my man for 24 years! But man when I look back at our time together, some of the best times were making love all day long to songs like "Do Me Baby," "The Beautiful Ones," "If I Was Your Girlfriend," "The Question of U," "Adore," and "Slow Love." What memories, our first couple of years together... the passionate sex of new love!
