How to Make Your Own Prince Masterpiece. So I was reading this blog by Marlon James:
http://marlon-james.blogs...rince.html It was interesting because he was talking about out of Prince's 80's albums, he thought what stopped Around the World in a Day from being one of Prince's definite classics was it's sequencing. I'll let you the entry and you'll be the judge if he's right! n his opinion he thought AWIAD should have been like this: 1. Temptation 2. Raspberry Beret 3. Tamborine 4. Paisley Park 5. 4 the Tears in Your Eyes 6. Around the World in a Day 7. America 8. Pop Life 9. She's Always in My Hair What do u think? Could u have done better? Or was AWIAD already perfect the way it was? Also do u think this was a problem in other Prince albums??

*4 the tears.. shouldnt be on it.
*Condition of the heart should be left ON it! *I like the addition of She's always in my hair. Great song and would fit perfectly with ATWIAD

I remember when I first got the cassette. I put it in my car and when America started up, I thought my cassette player was eating the tape! I quickly ejected it and after about 3 tries, I realized it was how the song really started..Lol

ATWIAD has to be the first song of the record, it's an open invitation...the first words of the first song say it all...you can't put it elsewhere. "open your heart, open your mind
A train is leaving all day..."

And tho Prince mentioned Jesus a lot at this time it was quite general or questioning (I know he did the Lord's prayer on Controversy, but that seemed more rebellious and he put GOD on a B side) 4 The Tears in Your eyes was too straightforwardly Christian to go on ARTWIAD

Temptation has a great intro for being the opening track but the way it ends makes it perfect for being the closing track on the album. America has the best start of all the ATWIAD tracks. It could be a great opening track. I always thought Hello & She's Always In My Hair should have been on the album. Girl should have remained a b-side. I admit that now I couldn't fathom this CD without the scream intro of ATWIAD. When go 2 a Prince concert or related event it's all up in the house but when log onto this site and the miasma of bitchiness is completely overwhelming!

Don't you guys think that if Temptation was the opening track, that would be like Let's Go Crazy being the opening track to Purple Rain? I LOVE ATWIAD being the title track...I first bought the album 5 years ago and when I heard that for the opening track, I knew my mind was about to be blown again, in a different direction.

Dance Electric should have been on there in place of the crappy Lader. The Psychedelic funk of DE would have been perfect on that album..

haven't you guys heard / seen the "Musical Portrait" documentary..?
The Ladder has to be on there, it's such a beautiful ballad Prince 4Ever.

It didn't do nearly as well because of the type of songs that were on it. This album would have been better and sold better:
The Dance Electric Heaven Extra Loveable Electric Intercourse Temptation Turn It Up Purple Music She's Always In My Hair Wonderful Ass Andy is a four letter word.
