No, it does not sound a like at all. This is one of my all time favorite ZAPP songs and this song was a hugh RnB hit when it was out. It is not obsurce or unknown and no one would have a chance of suing and winning anything.

Really? Maybe you just know it so well you don't notice the resemblance? It could just b me, tho, as I said...

(BTW - I didn't say it was ripped off or sue-able, just that they sound similar...)

A bit but Dance 4 Me sounds much more like that Australian group's song. They are practically identical!

Hahaha! No worries. I mentioned it in a thread. I didn't start a thread about it.

Great minds think alike. I was kinda disapointed when I heard the song 'cause I kept racking my brain thinking, "This sounds like something I've heard before".
I do like the song though. Even if it is kind of a rehash.

i think this song came out of the vault. P. made this somewhere in the 80ies when everybody was using a lot of electronic equipment.so that is why this song could be reminding you of Dance.

How can someone listen to a song as much as I have listen to this jam since it came out back in 82 and not notice. eek

and really the only reason anyone cares about songs sounding the same is for the purpose of suing. I am always amazed at how people on this board will pull songs out of the blue as stuff P has ripped off but can't notice all the artist and songs that are rips of stuff P did (LOL)

What's up yours? Your taking my response to your statement the wrong way as there is nothing confrontational about my post. You need to chill out as we simply don't agree on this topic.

How can anyone not see a resemblance in the main melody?

You can sing both songs together.

Roger Troutman: I can make you dance if you want me to

Prince: I like it when you dance cos it gets me hot

sing em together, exactly the same.

Other than a couple of lyrical similarities, no. The BPM is close, but most songs are close.

ZAPP is bad ass. They only had like 5 albums in their career, although Roger had a few solo things on his own before he died.

The music is not the same both songs have very typical funk beats. I think "Dance For Me" songs more like "Acknowledge Me"

Are u a muso? I'm not. I'd love it if someone with the knowledge could break it down and show how they're different and also why they sound similar..

There are similarities but this one is inferior.
