That's because, unfortunately, some Prince music in the early 90's started to sound like the early 90's. It's when a few things happened:

1) He was trying to make radio friendly music again, succeeding half the time
2) Tony M was trying to "shove black back down that [N word snip - luv4u] throat", and
3) Prince stopped making trends, but started following them.

SO many of the released, and unreleased but leaked, remixes and songs from about 1991-1994 sounded like Taylor Dayne outtakes or something. I'm glad he recovered w/ Exodus, Gold, Come, and Chaos.

I've not listened to Eternity in a while. I must needs go and listen again.

I agree about the radio trend. If you listen to certain songs, he was really writing for an AC/pop crowd. Songs like "Standing At The Altar", "U Will B Moved", "With This Tear", etc. are good examples of his AC style of writing. I think where he messed himself up was speaking out against the evils of record companies. Before he started doing that, his songs were still showing up on projects. Some good, some bad.
