Oh come on !!!

As if.

Any UK people should know what Glastonbury is about , the true vibe is drugs , travellers , and then music.

There is absolutely no way Prince would play to an audience as unpredictable as that , especially Sunday night when only the hardcore are left - you may recall that the more commercial and (for Glastonbury - alternative !) appear on Saturday night when there is a slightly more yuppie vibe.
(eg) The Pet Shop Boys at the one before last.

He is too uncompromising to play a set for the masses at the best of times let alone play one for an unpredictable crowd with a certainty of unpredictable weather.

Lest we forget the hassle at the Rock In Rio performance!?
I think after that P has steered well clear of these kind of gigs.

In 1993 he played at several Rock Over Germany festivals.

Glasto has a quality musical hertiage that is hard to ignore - I really hope he plays. I think the only reason he would not do it would be because of a conflict in his schedule - not through this weird snobbery that some are purporting!

Eh? I've been 2 the last 7 Glastonburys. Yuppie night? In recent years at has got more commercial, but not just on a Saturday. In my experiance the vast majority are still there on Sunday and the 'drug' thang is there if u want it but 2 me it's just 1 big party. Alternative on Saturday night??? 2000 it was Travis, 2002 Stereophonics! There about as alternative as Micheal Bolton. The atmosphere and music go hand in hand. If any1 thinks about about drugs first and foremost they are very sad indeed!

I do agree with u that (although I would like him 2) I do not think it will be Prince's cup of tea, but that's a shame coz I reckon he could triumph just as Bowie did!

Prince has played festivals before with much success. I saw him on the "Rock over Germany"-Festival in 1993 (he was sponsored by Coca Cola!), where he was the final act on the last night (other acts were Elton John, Rod Steward, Duran Duran and Foreigner). He played an awesome "ACT II"-Set and the audience really went crazy. I´m sure he reached a whole new audience that night. It was fantastic.

I think it could be a sink or swim situation, but prince on stage, whatever the audience (however high), has got to go crazy at a venue like Glastonbury. It could be a real PR plus especially when the music and band is so tight. I would stand arse deep in mud for a weekend if he confirmed.

What do you think about NPGMC priority seating? 400 of us on a little dais in front of the stage, out of the mud, sipping champagne!! Yea right!

I agree entirely. Prince and Glasto just wouldn't fit together...his heels would get stuck anyway.

Rubbish - he would be perfect. Seems to me the people who are saying he would not suit the festival are ones that have not been before, or have not been in a long time! Beleive me, I've been 12 times and played there myself - then man would be fine!!

I have already pointed out that we would clearly have priority seating. We could arrive just for Princes set, red carpet treatment, and 15 rows of seats right in front of the stage. The mud soaked revellers could chuck the bottles of pee at the back of our heads instead!! We could band together to form a priority seating barrier for princes protection. Probably for only 200 quid!! Just think about that for a minute.

Daphne & Celeste have never played Glastonbury...they where scheduled to, but cancelled due to them being bottled at The Reading festival, they wheren't bottled "OFF" technically as they performed the entire song that they where scheduled to, what with them being reall professionals and everything.

I take music real seriously but if I was performing live and people were throwing bottles I'd of given them all the finger and pissed off as well. I don't like their music but I stand up 4 what they did.

i remember there was a really strong rumour prince would play glasto in the early nineties too...a key thing 2 remember is that organisers don't announce the acts till the tickets are sold so a bit of speculation with some of the best known acts in the world wont do ticket sales any harm...

mind you, if he does play, what do you reckon to a warm-up show just for npgmc members a couple of nights before? got to be a possibility??

In the News of The World they announced a "secret" gig at London Astoria on the Saturday Night...Ok it's the News of the World but U never know!
Also I can't see Prince playing Glasto without a whole bunch of difinite fans there so if he does play I would imagine that NPGMC memebrs will get a nod first so that we can all get tickets and b there, I wouldn't b suprised if there where exclusive tickets to members available on NPGMC.

I would go crazy for Prince at Glasto. And seeing as the specualted dates for the celebration are before the dates of Glasto (if they get their license) it definately IS a possibility.

I think Prince would rock Glasto. After seeing Bob Dylan and David Bowie command the masses as they did at Glasto, I believe any legend with the talent can command the masses at the mainstage.

As for prefered NPGMC area...I've only been to Glasto twice, but I can't imagine that could EVER be done there. And if they did try, the place would flood and the fence would sink in the mud, or 10 minutes into the performance the fenced area would be trampled over...Glasto isn't about VIPs...

i could see him doin a members only warm-up gig, though...

Ahhh, I'm just dreamin. I'll fly my ass to Glasto and P will cancel the night before anyways...

uggh...I HATED their performance. I got much too bored and wandered away...The best thing about Glasto was I didn't have to walk far to find some fun...
