Bruce Dickinson (born 7 August 1958) is an English singer, TV presenter, airline pilot, radio show host, record producer, fencer, author, and songwriter best known as the vocalist of the metal band Iron Maiden
Iron Maiden have once again retained their place as the biggest heavy metal band on the planet. In recent years the band has played to numerous fans in countries like India, UAE, Costa Rica, Peru, Columbia, Chile which have in the past been overlooked by many bands. The band has played to huge crowds of over 30,000 people in these countries since 2006 and continue to have a huge fan following. Along with being the most popular rock band in South America and most of Europe, especially in Scandinavia and the Nordic region, the band has been able to play at numerous stadiums worldwide, recently playing to over 2,000,000 people on their 2008-09 tour, averaging almost 25,000 people at each concert in 90 venues. Recently the band also became the top selling international rock band in India, surpassing the catalogue sales of The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Deep Purple and Pink Floyd in 2008 in the country. Metal Hammer magazine proclaimed Iron Maiden as the biggest band on the planet in 2008, calling them "bigger than Metallica, Guns N' Roses, AC/DC and perhaps even God." The ever growing popularity of the band and their worldwide adulation by fans was recently documented by CNN on their monthly show Revealed, which documents the band on their Somewhere Back In Time World Tour in South America, further cementing the bands enormous worldwide appeal despite being ignored by US radio stations and MTV.[63] Dickinson never took singing lessons, but is nevertheless famous for his broad range of notes and enormous screams. He was given the nickname "The Air Raid Siren" because when he joined Iron Maiden and recording his first album The Number of the Beast, their sound engineer Martin Birch wanted to get the right sound for the first four verses of the title song, and forced Dickinson to sing them over and over again for hours, until Dickinson grew so frustrated that he was throwing chairs across the room. Dickinson's singing varied notably in the 1990s in the recording of albums such as No Prayer for the Dying, Fear of the Dark and his first solo work Tattooed Millionaire, making use of a much more raspy and unpolished sound, befitting of the stripped down style of the albums. Since returning to Iron Maiden in 1999, his singing style has returned to much like it was in the 1980s with Iron Maiden, though soft and reflective passages have been incorporated with the familiar operatic wail to suit the more progressive direction of Iron Maiden since the reunion. Bruce cannot sing higher notes than Prince. He cant mess with Prince falsette.
Bruce may have a more powerful chest voice, but Prince has a greater range. BTW Iron Maiden released the same album with the same artwork since their debut. Prince takes more risks, musically, on Lotus Flower than Iron Maiden on the last 20 years.

In my younger days I could sing 'Adore' pretty passably - it just takes practice. As for the Maiden artwork, it's a theme (Eddie) and I think it's been brilliantly done. Many, many interesting covers. Yeah, Prince has taken a lot more risks, but people don't want Iron Maiden to take risks, any more than they want AC/DC to start doing trance music. They've got their thing, they do it exceptionally well and I'd say it's pretty timeless.

Achieving a high note with falseto is not the same as singing well with falseto. Bruce is not as good as the headbangers think. So if you want to compare Prince with Bruce you have to take into account the "soul" ability of falseto, as it is widely used.
But a more rational comparision would be Bruce against: Mike Patton, Rob Halford, F Mercury, Sebastian Bach or David Coverdale. And they all outsing Bruce.

I suppose most/all of those guys could technically sing "better" than Bruce - but what does it matter, people love the way Bruce sings! I consider him "better" than all those guys (besides Freddie of course) Kinda like how I'd rather listen to Neil Young play guitar over Steve Vai. Oh hells yes, I went there

Screaming isn't vocalizing. Anybody can scream. Not everyone can vocalize. When go 2 a Prince concert or related event it's all up in the house but when log onto this site and the miasma of bitchiness is completely overwhelming!
