okay okay it's like gossip and i shouoldn't have repeated it.
here's another neato news item: Civic Pride Did you know that the Minneapolis-St. Paul area has been named the world's most 'knowledge competitive' region? It's true. This honor has been bestowed upon our region by the Robert Huggins Associates, a research company in the United Kingdom that studies international and regional competitiveness. The study was based upon the following criteria: mean gross monthly earnings, per capita spending on education, unemployment rates, number of managers per 1,000 inhabitants, number of IT, biotechnology, automotive engineering and computer manufacturing employees per 1,000 inhabitants, and number of patents registered per million people. Regions were awarded scores according to these criteria and Minneapolis-St. Paul topped San Francisco, Austin, Texas and Stockholm, Sweden with a 147.6 score, closely seconded by San Francisco at 146.4, and Austin Texas, with a score of 145.1.
