The Aidin Vaziri Review on Prince's Latest Brilliance!
I am not happy with the way they rate Prince's Musical Output these days, I truly believe its a more personal issue with these magazine editors and writers who publish all this low rating and nonsense about Prince.

Prince was once on the cover due to the success of a hit single in 1994, and then he was dissed once he decided to not go the conventional route in the music industry again.

So why is the latest issue of VIBE dissing ONA-Live and stating that a 40sec clip of "Diamonds and Pearls" is the best track on the 3 CD Set!?

This Set I've been listening to everyday for a few months now. I'm very pleased with it, thou I wish there were certain cuts included, but I'm not bitter, there will be other Live disc to come I'm certain of in the future from Prince.

I've even given a copy to a few co-workers who aren't big time Prince Fans and wanted to purchase the set but couldn't find it no where.

Some of our PrinceMusicGroupDetroit Members at yahoo sent an E-mail to NewPowerDetroit and had an issue with the Vibe review and I agree we should write them and speak our minds, We are NPGMC Members/Fam and were all Prince has at this point after his battles w/ the Industry and I must say he's done pretty well w/ his fanbase and the recent make up for delay on music through the online club.

In a E-mail sent to PrinceMusicGroupDET@yahoo.com :
" I am not pleased with Vibe magazine! i think the writer should be fired on the real.

It's not that they dissed Prince for a simple tune but dissed him and his fabulous band for their craft and a history makin' package. U will not find a more perfect set... it's near flawless and i cannot believe Vibe would speak such nonsense.

They didn't go in depth with songs cause then they wouldn't be able to speak truth. How can u not hear that and think "brilliance!?"
I think there should be a letter writing campaign... It's really pissed me off".

*My thing is, if you don't have anything good to say, don't say it at all

*I stopped taking Vibe seriously when they stopped taking music seriously. Years ago.

*did the reviewer even listen to any of Prince's output ??... or stop listening around 93 ... and started buying up Brittney and Nsync albums ... i think thats what most critics have done ... Rolling Stone included .

*too be Honest most of the Music Magazines today don't take Music too Seriously nowadays IMHO.Vibe is like a Puffy Production:they Sample Rolling Stone,The Source,Entertainment Weekly,Slam Magazine,XXL,People,Us,etc... without ever having there own idenity.but then again all those above Magazines fall into that category IMHO.

*WTF VIBE is just like Rolling Stone and those two magazine aren't any better than any teenie bop boy band mags vibe or spin = pakcaged pop = NOT RESPECTABLE OPINIONS

*D&P the best thing on the album, huh? This review is Shht.

*That right there just says it all about the reviewer. What an a**.
VIBE sucks butt anyway. After Emil took over the mag he's been more interested in jetsetting all over Europe attending fashion shows than any journalistic interest. The mag has been up for sale for a while now but no one is buying.

These were a few of many ppl who are online and read the review and feel that the writer and vibe need to stop reviewing Prince's music if its constant a diss or be real and know that this is Prince's best music making these days!

*They've been listening to more important "musicians", like Puff Daddy... The live set is DAMNED good.

AND MORE... 4 Those who have Issues with my recent posting to VIBE!
The reason I'm making such a big deal out of this is because they've been dissing his work non stop since the name change and battle w/ Warners and half of these idiots give Britney and Backstreet boys all the credit for great music when its just simple bubble gum tunes that have no place in our memory within the next 20years...plus any new artist like a 'Maxwell' or 'Remy' or 'Alicia Keys' are often compared to Prince, sorry to say when you purchase these records and praise them...your actually getting a prince record...because thats who their sound is like, and who they look up too...so why bite the hand that feeds them?
Prince is an inspiration for so many artist new and old...and I don't think this review was in good favor of the artist himself, the music was completely overlooked...Like I said its always a personal issue!
He still delivers great quality work and I'm not just saying this from a fans point, but as a singer, musician and real music lover..Prince will blow these young ppl who think are our future Prince's, kings and Queens of pop off the stage anyday!

Thats why I'm writing VIBE about this continuous diss on Prince's Music.
He was doomed from the start, because it appears now he's caught in a mold in other ppl's minds and they can't seem to let the past be over and move on the whats new (THE FUTURE)!
He's an ever evolving artist that needs space to grow and he's maturing very well...If Madonna test out new music, she's quote on quote trend setting and trail blazing and setting new ways to come with something exciting and refreshing, when truth is she samples and just takes everything thats been done in another (foreign) country and tries it on us and because she's madonna, the suppose mom of reinvention, it works for her...because she's never gave the indusrty any gripe, just shut up and did what she needed to do to kiss their butts! But prince plays everything and sings, he doesn't need their help, only to release records and their afraid , so they shut him out now...because he could be so much greater than Micheal and Madonna now...and its just a shame, so I'm gonna be one of the first to take up for him! because he's GREAT AND HIS BOX SET IS WONDERFUL!!! POINT BLANK.

Thank U
Peace and Not2War!

Since when is someone not entitled to an opinion. So they don't follow Prince's every move and whim, perhaps they dont own every single recording he has ever made, but then again neither does the other 95% of the population, and a majority of vibe readers.

They wrote a review which differs from the Prince.org fanatical stance, shame on them.

What a bullshit to write a magazine about how you do not like a REVIEW. Indeed, everybody is entitled to an opinion. And not everybody is so totally offa their rockers with everything Prince releases. This is why I like this site, it just not copies the Paisley Propaganda. Not every reviewer is a FAM. Not every person in the world liking Prince's music is either...

I just sent my thoughts to Vibe on the extremely poor review. I hope others do too. The 3 cd set is not perfect, but it's damn close. The music/band and his vocals are perfect and those of us that were lucky to see the show live know how great he and the band are live. I just got my copy of ONA Live last night and I will be listening to it non stop for quite a while, I'm sure. Come on people, send your thoughts to Vibe and give them a piece of your mind.

Why go through the trouble of writing/e-mailing a magazine for a negative review? Who gives a flyin' flip, and how does the review affect you?

yeah well at least someone is letting them know how shitty the magazine is period irreguardless of prince review or not...the point isnt prince the point is the shittyness of thier review and they dont have a clue...you dont have to own ANY of princes albums to know that this is above the average crap that the music industry put out...thet are biased AND ignorant on thier review ITS NOT AN EDUCATED OPINION on any level of reviewing any album...Vibes review wasnt even an opinion it was just shitty sloppy lazy review...doesnt even sound like they listened to it sounds like they fast forwarded through the whole thing! And the other point is how will that affect the average person who reads this magazine and is already lost to the unreality of the record industry.

Anyone who writes a letter to VIBE magazine over a review ought to have their head examined and try to figure out what's important in life. I'm a HUGE Prince fan and I would only give the live set 3 out of 5 stars because it's fairly uninspired and it doesn't flow very well. Perhaps you guys should start a campaign against me to get me to change to my mind shake

It's an opinion for the love of God.

You people make me embarrassed to a Prince fan. There are like 12 glowing reviews and just because one magazine critic doesn't like it you go to these lengths. Pathetic.

This is a little too much. Writing to a critic or a magazine to tell them they are wrong is pure waste of time. While critics should try to be fair, they cannot be expected to share the opinions of fans. It's only their opinion. By making a big deal of this review while most where positive, I think we just show how opinionated and sensitive we are. Let it be...

The average casual Prince fan would probabbly appreciate a review from another average casual Prince fan.

Vibe could have completely slammed the album and gave it one star if they wanted to, its an opinion.

The thought of Prince fanatics ganging up on a magazine which doesnt agree with their views sounds more like a lunatic cult to me.

If anything, perhaps you will prompt them to do an article on obsessed fans who lost their minds and ability to reason.

I dont see anything wrong with writing a decent letter to a magazine or author, not condemning but just stating opinion on how the reviewer seemingly missed the mark etc on anything a reader sees fit..thats what letters sections are partly there for. Not that I think a fanatic should write to them reaming and raving about Prince and the reviewer though..more like someone sensible saying something sensible.

Everyone (Vibe reviewer included) is entitled to their own opinion. Some of us want to write the magazine, some think the very idea of writing to 'Vibe' is crazy. Whatever... to each his own. If you don't agree with writing a letter, then don't write one. Yes, I'm a fan, but that does not mean I praise everything Prince does. That is not the case. My issue with the 'Vibe' review is that it seemed as if the CD was rated on what wasn't there (old-school hits, etc.) instead of what is. If this had been a CD full of live hits, I think the reviewer would have had a totally different opinion. I felt like he gave it a mediocre rating just because he felt it did not have enough hits, not because the CD itself is actually mediocre.

I don't trip on it.it's no Biggie just how they felt&I can understand where they are coming from.I think the Problem here:is that Vibe hardly makes there Magazine about Words&Music Artists.and for Me Personally I'm the Person that hasn't dug the Studio Prince Album Since 88.but while alot of Arguments can be made about what should&shouldn't make it onto a Live Prince Album:no Matter how I feel about His Studio stuff you gotta give it up too Him On Stage IMHO.I mean while some tours have been Hit&Miss the Cat if nothing else can stil Bring the Pain Live IMHO.I agree only with them when they use there Review in terms of His Albums from 89 till Now.but Live&a Release?? that is Prince's Strongest Strength IMHO.now I got Friends who can't stand Him or think of Him in a Very Past Tense as they do with Other Artists I dig but they will put down the Loot too hear Him Live&nobody can take that Aspect of Him away.but ain't no need too trip with Vibe.
