Yootube you say, hmmm sounds interesting. I'm currently working on something called a Cathode Ray Tube for the UK market. It's a little bit bigger than all these flatscreen TVs and Monitors but I think bulky is back!

great way to get many views and few replies for a thread

he was talking about people taking pictures at shows

and i could almost guarantee you that U.S. crowds would be the most unlikely to respect his requests

Except that what he said was STUPID. Just like when he said that the Japanese were so polite, because they returned the tamborines that they'd placed on some seats. Of course mere days later there were a couple of pristine boots from the concert. And let's not forget which country's Lovesexy gigs (+ a rehearsal) was leaked in soundboard quality.

Prince opens his mouth and nonsense comes out.

Didn't y'all listen to the interview?
Prince never said he's not gonna do any more concerts in the U.S.
This orger is just assuming this from Prince's statement about camera phones being used at his concerts.
Based on what Prince said, I don't even understand how one can arrive to that conclusion doh!

Here's wat Prince said:

Q: What did you think about the crowd last night ?

A: Amazing. It is actually indescribable, that much love. They were very respectful. We asked that no one used camera phones and they honoured that request, unlike Americans who are so obsessed with technology. We don't like to have our concert filmed that way because it sounds so bad and then you give all the footage to somebody like YouTube who is run by Universal Publishing, and some of those same lawyers.

(then later on...)

Q: Is the Internet opening new doors for you ?

A: It's a tool. It's not a means to an end. My concerts have always been dear to me and it's almost a shame I got so good at making records because the media is dying now, so until something new happens and we get some laws and restrictions to how the media is used and the revenue is shared, then I'll just stick with the live stuff and every once in a while I'll do records.

Oh, and at the O2, there were more mobile phones out recording the entire show right from court side. He wasn't too bothered then.

Pay cheque was reasonable compensation I imagine lol

Not true, lots of surveillance during the O2 concerts. I've seen many people being reprimanded or taken out of the crowd, it wasn't fun anymore.
And in Paris, there were many French bodyguards looking at people who were filming and some of them got kicked out or it seemed that way... It didn't look nice. And the French all boo-ed when a guy said it was prohibited to film or take pictures.

co-sign rolleyes what people don't invent because he hasn't been giving concerts in the US for a few years.

If I recall well, he didn't play in Europe from 2002 till 2007, about 4 years, I don't think anyone here made silly comments that he wouldn't be playing in Europe again. I'm sure Prince's next step will be playing in the US, he needs to entertain himself and tickle his fans... it's all about promotion.

Is it really a big deal? Prince says a lot of stuff and we should know that he talks a lot of shit but are you really going to take it to heart? I know I'm not, so why are people in here doing it? Like japanrocks said, he never said that he wasn't going to tour the U.S. Some of y'all are something strange. disbelief lol

They arrived at that conclusion because they can't read and do not know how to listen. In addtion, it has always been illegal to video or audio tape concerts.

Once again people don't read and listen.

... if the $ is there, he'll be here again (in the states). I'm not worried. If anything, it'll be more unofficial DVDs in my collection. I am really wanting P to either do a show in Mpls or NYC.

Tis true wink I agree it got much tighter as the residency went on, but on opening night, there were literally hundreds of phones right next to the stage within 15 feet of him when he did his last solo effort at the end of the night. I have lots of proof and I suppose they can't throw everyone out!! That said, I agree it got tighter during each show and on the final night we got told that we would be out on our ear if we were caught holding a phone any higher than our hip bone. biggrin
