The Truth I was listening to the truth moments ago and the thought entered how appearances can be deceiving but one thing about the truth is, that it is.
The truth is not something that you can deny, you can cover it up and act like it doesn't exist -- you can put lipstick on a pig, but its still just lipstick on a pig. Prince's song the truth--what is he trying to relate here? What if half the things ever said Turned out 2 be a lie... How will U know the Truth? If U were given all the answers And U stopped 2 wonder why But how will U know the Truth? Everybody's got a right to love Everybody's got a right to lie But the choice U make aint no piece of cake It aint no MF piece of pie Gotta (Gonna?) tell the truth y'all Gotta tell the truth Gotta tell the truth y'all Gotta tell the truth Gotta tell the truth y'all Gotta tell the truth If there was just one day That everybody tell the truth

Telling the truth is being a genuine person.
I find it easy to tell the truth because U cannot hide from it... I am someone that believes that lies weight your spirit and prevent your ascension process. Choosing to not care how you behave in the grand scheme of eternity is what sculpts you....Our flesh is born to rot...Our spirit is born to metamorphisize and soar with love's intention. Basically the premise is: The film takes place in an alternate universe much like our own one, but where human beings are incapable of lying. Unfortunately, not only must they tell the truth but they are afflicted with TMI (too much information) syndrome. Ever told the truth even though you knew people didn't want to hear it? That kinda feels good too. What was the response?

She was a mess, she was totaly wrong, and she wanted me to tell her it was okay. I tried to avoid it, I warned her. I have not seen her in over a year I think she moved. In one instance I told the truth, I'm glad I did, but I paid for it dearly--in a sense. Although the recipient didn't want to hear it - they knew it was true, hopefully when faced with a similar situation they will recall our discussion and recognize the truth was told and try to make things better. But yeah, at first, the recipient wanted to basically kill me (figurative). Other times I've been quite honest and the person was very receptive and even embraced the honesty. I guess its all about where a pereson's head is at on any given day--huh? [Edited 10/13/09 19:30pm]

Prince's song the truth--what is he trying to relate here? What if half the things ever said Turned out 2 be a lie... Isn't it just basically saying that truth and fact are not necessarily the same thing and that it is all ultimately subjective-hence it is hard to make true choices. Essentially the whole dilemma of truth. All we can ever truly know is our own personal truth and when we are lying to ourselves, where others are concerned it is really a matter of having faith in them How will U know the Truth? If U were given all the answers And U stopped 2 wonder why But how will U know the Truth? I don't have it but I've heard everyone talking so much about it so "if this "song"... is just an apple....I have ta--ken a bite" ....I sought, found and listened. 1 fantastic song Album is not available though right? Now I know why you guys talk about it. My take on what he's relating: You can hear a lot of things that you might believe are the truth, they might be handed to you on a silver platter but until you discover for yourself, you'll never know if something is a lie/truth or not. Lol. So he changes a line about those who miss the old lyrics and says "that says more about you". My thoughts exactly. We can all lie or tell the truth. Lying is surely the broad & easy road. The truth as we all know, but hate to admit is the hard & narrow. No easy choice. One leads to total freedom, the other leads to being entangled in a web of deceipt, blinding others and ourselves. But at the end of time, "what will you have stood for?" Which road will you have taken? The road less travelled, even though it was narrow and hard, or the broader road because it was just easier? One damn amazing song! I'm impressed. If retailers put the real prices on the things they sell too...now wouldn't the world be different! So much truth everybody would be a lot happier. I like the line about "did you give more than you took" This also doesn't necessarily have to be material. (ie. bank accounts)It could also be of energy & love you spread in comparison to hate. But in simple language the song also means what goes around comes around. You reap what you sew. The $ reference couldn't that be about moral bank account? Especially since he talks about giving more than getting.

Owww, you're hurting me say it ain't so. Why do you think that is? In the nitty of the gritty? I know right. People like to say things that are untrue but close enough that people believe it in order to serve their own agenda. "Keep on shilling for Big Pharm!"

People like to say things that are untrue but close enough that people believe it in order to serve their own agenda. Yes I've seen that happen too, recently. But I appreciate what the song suggests that honesty is the best policy (that's the way I was taught); I don't believe in this life time we will get there, there's so many other factors preventing "the truth" from being told. It's just that way. If the truth were told about Wall Street, no one would ever invest again. But if you blame Price Waterhouse and you're JP Morgan, it could help you. If the truth were told about health care people would be looking for alternatives, etc. get my drift? So right now, its more comfortable to buy the story and live with the unspoken consequences -- people are happier that way. Everybody's got a right to love Everybody's got a right to lie But the choice U make aint no piece of cake It aint no MF piece of pie As I discover each of Prince's "political commentary" songs I am intrigued by the notions and realities of his statements.
