Prince plays MJ tune So Prince played 'shake your body down to the ground' during his Paris gigs. Is that his nod to MJ respect due? He has Played MJ songs live before but always had someone else do the take the lead vocals, this time he sang the song. I would plucker a guess that is his way of paying homage to Micheal Jackson, who knows...

It's not the first time Prince has played an MJ song. He did it a lot with Tamar on some of her small club gigs a few years ago. Whether he took the lead or not is beside the point, because he still played an MJ song; him and his band.
Otherwise, this subject is SO over talked. It's as if Prince would NEVER play an MJ song, and if he did it MEANS something. He doesn't owe MJ anything, nor MJ fans. However, Prince is just a human being, and he liked The Jacksons (he liked "Sugar Daddy" a lot, which wasn't a big song on the charts), so for him to play an MJ song after his passing is as obvious of a move as anyone doing it.

We're free to believe what we want. But for me from now on, any time he or anyone sings an MJ song, it will be a different experience for them, because the King of Pop has gone and people often only appreciate something after it has gone. Human nature unfortunately. [Edited 10/15/09 10:56am] "Free URself, B the best that U can B, 3rd Apartment from the Sun, nothing left to fear" Prince Rogers Nelson - Forever in my Life -

Prince is giving him nuffrespects just as he does with many other artists, but let's not pretend that MJ was some big influence on Prince. If anything, I think Prince rightly knew that MJ was overhyped.
He said it best when he said: "So-called 'King' gives birth to a so-called Prince". No Candy 4 Me
