EXODUS ='s FUNK & LOL !!

HEY U...

OK, this is NOT for the uptight, self-rightious, or
those without a sense of HUMOR...
Does anyone out there DIG The EXODUS CD ??

For those that do not know, This was a cd put out by
THE NPG (including Prince) under the guise of TORA TORA

I think this is a FUNNY , FUNKY, TRIPPY CD. The Jams are
DEEP- (better than the LIVE versions..IMO). The
musicianship is AWESOME & the SEGUES are FUN-E-R than Sh*T.
For those of you who have not heard Prince curse, this is
your chance if you so wish.

Frankly (& I know I'll get SLAMMED for this),but the
cursing does not offend me & IS MISSED.

prince / The NPG are GREAT FUN & FUNKY on this CD...

Definitely one of his best. The segues are funny as hell. Well worth it if you can find it.

Exodus has some really great moments. Don't like all the needless profanity on "Count the days" though - it just seems out of place.

I loved it when Prince would joke around with Sonny T and Michael and them--original NPG___-
Just like at the begining of "Peace" when prince is on the piano singing 'artist formely known as Prince"-- that is some funny shit

I wish he would go back to that comedy shit and yes the cursing is missed!!!

I remember being quite happy with it at the time of release. Listened it to death during the dry spell of waiting for a new "prince" album. The good life remixes were also quite entertaining!!

I want to say that thats not Prince saying that, Im pretty sure they were poking fun at him because if you listen closely you can hear him laughing and talking in the background. I could be wrong, but it doesnt sound like him at all.

I thought that. It sounds like a nice ballad but then hes motha fuckerin all over the place lol.

I love this album though. I dont own it but I will soon as I find a copy. Have got 4 mp3s from it & its annoying not to have the full album. I love the idea of two bass players too, very unconventional but really works. The mysteriousness of tora tora was always cool & this was the best the Funk has ever been imo where Prince the NPG are concerned. Great album.

I always like hearing him play other instruments, sure hes great on guitar & vox but we hear that all the time. Nice to hear him venturing towards the bass smile

Not Sure as to when it was released 1995 on NPG Records is stated on the back on the jewel case, I don't think it was available retail ?, but maybe through the NPG site at the time. It must have been released worlwide because on the back artwork there are MANY countries of distribution listed.

My cd came with a sticker on it that says...

"? Quien Es prince Tora Tora ?" on it.

I bought it SEALED from an e-bay seller in Spain (I think I scored!..$10.00 U.S. dollars with shipping!),
but looking at the cd, it says made in GERMANY??

I owe some record store worker for turning me onto this one. It was around the time that Emancipation was released, and I had little or no knowledge of bootlegs, unreleased stuff, imports, etc. We were talking about what we did and didn't like about Emancipation, and he said,"If you want to hear the funkiest Prince music ever, find a CD called "Exodus". He said, "It's like Prince really let it hang out there and like very song counted".
I had no luck finding it for some time, until I called 1- 800 New Funk, and lo and behold, it showed up three days later!
I still remember that day, and feeling like I was getting Christmas early. As reported, funky, funny, f-word heavy... but all in all, a showcase of that band doing what they did best, and Prince in fine form! I just found another almost unplayed copy for $7.99...so nice!

Oh,Man I Love that Album. Tora,Tora was really excellent as was the NPG and Prince's segues with The Mashed Potato Girl, Him talking to Tony about Jannell being a Rican and how he stepped on her Bruised Booty and they went 2 rounds and all. I miss that Band that was awesome. I loved Prince's crazy Antics with the Hat,Veil and Shoes. The appearances on the BBC and I always wondered Damn How Can He Breath With That Scarf On His Face? In my Opinion that album just totally Rules!

I do believe that was Johnny Blackshire Talkin Loud, with Prince and Morris Hayes laughing in the backround

Just lookk at my handle. I friggin' DIG this album. It is one of my top three. Prince and his band are in RARE funk form here. His band now is better, but these guys were [i]nasty[i]...I love it. also one of my top fav songs is the closer on the album. The Exodus has begun...Muthafuckas. U son of a mutha fuckin' housefly. U ain't gonna find this shit nowhere else! Every track is right on. Just nasty as can be. Big Fun is a great party jam. the segues a funnier that snaut.(I hope that's how U spell that slimy stuff in your nose?). Prince should do a comedy CD. He's funnier on record than on screen. Just to make sure U know...I LOVE THIS ALBUM!!!

O yeah. somebody mentioned Peace. that isn't Prince on there. I'm pretty sure It's Kip Blackshire...or one of those wack Blackshire guys. I don't know why he ever had them around. They almost ruined the Rave DVD.
