The Gold Experience could have been so much better!

I know i'm going to get slated because many of you love it, but that's just what i'm feeling.

By the time we get to Shy that album comes alive. Shy, Billy Jack Bitch, I Hate You, and Gold!

Although Gold is alittle OTT for my liking.

Always loved this album...especially liked that this one has a very "produced" feel, whereas Chaos and Disorder followed with a raw sound...

Besides, just the fact that "shy" is on here, makes this album great. One of those great songs where his lyrics are as intriguing as the music around them

Im glad Pussy Control exists in the Prince music world.

although it doesn't seem to me that 'p control' necessarily fits on this album i'm with rd (as is often the case..) i'm glad it exists...

'gold' may be my fav'rite prince album...but that would involve narrowing it down to one and i don't like doin' that...

'319' is a lot of fun to me...'we march..' eh...i think lyrically it's got some cool moments, it's not one o' my fav'rite songs or anything tho...

as for 'billy jack b*tch'...i didn't dig it too much at first..but somethin' happened..i dunno what..and i like it a lot now...

P control and 319 shold have had Videos and Been Singles

instead he picked that Crappy I hate U ... that sounded like all the other ... lame singles he released ... like Letitgo dinner with delores and i hate U ... all these songs were a bore 2 radio airplay ... if he had picked different songs 4 singles these albums would have done much better... Like Pheremone or PAPA instead of letitgo... and an extended radio cut of 319 in place of i hate U ... single selection is Key in record sales .. Because People assume thats the best song on the album...it is just a fact .

"Pussy Control" has the most exciting use of the word "muthafucka" since "Sexy MF." "I said, muthafucka, I know yo reputation and I'm astounded that you're here!" Mmmm, like a whip.

Gold Experience was ruined by the time it got to release, and yet is still a very good album. Its always just pissed me off that it wasn't the masterpiece it could and should have been.

I agree P Control shouldn't be on there. Neither should We March and Billy Jack Bitch. These aren't good songs in my opinion. Billy gets a good reception on the Org - God knows why - its just plain bad.

Its been said countless times before, but why was Days of Wild left out? This was his best song of the period, as is shown by the fact he plays it to this day. Why was Now changed from the way is was on the Beautiful Experience video? Album version is over produced and crap compared. Why was Acknoledge Me and Ripopgodazippa left out?

I could go on and on, and bore you all to death...The fact remains, this album should be beyond question as his best ever, and he fucked it up.in production, in dispute with Warners, whatever. Such a shame

I agree that Pussy Control doesn't fit on TGE.
It should have been a b-side.
It sounds like a dirty Prince b-side.
Like Scarlet Pussy & Sex & Erotic City.

as-is, it's my favorite Prince album. but it could've done without We March and Shy (these 2 are good, but don't fit with the rest of the album) and been replaced with some of the outtakes... Days Of Wild, Mad, Acknowledge Me, Ripopgodazippa... dunno, take your pick.

Id've loved to have heard Calhoun Sq., and Hide The Bone on there, though Im not sure when exactly they were recorded. Definitely couldve done without 319 though.

Have to say I was never really taken by this album It has some wonderful moments, and how Dolphin never got realeased as a single but I Hate U did is another one of those Prince mysteries that we could spend forever trying to work out.

One thing I hate is all the synth sounds. I know hes always pioneered the use of new synth sounds, but the ones on here just hurt the ear.
