If so, I don't the 'light dude' is on drums. He looks like a sound guy or security guard or something.[img]

30 sec. Excerpt :

http://tf1.lci.fr/infos/c...lais-.html

I've been to both shows.

The first one was exceptional. The audience sucked big time on both.
But duplicating the same playlist was a total rip-off for me.

As many afficionados, I bought four (overpriced) tickets. I did that thinking that he wouldn't repeat himself. The Montreux set lists weren't similar, did they ?

So my GF and I left in the middle of the 2nd show. I mean, it was EXACTLY the same concert, except for the outfit !

OK, it absolutely kicked ass. "Girl" acoustic and "Cool" were phenomenal, as well as "Why You Wanna Treat Me So Bad". The Grand Palais is beautiful, visually the night show was great, but 400 EUR ?

Nobody forced me, but for that price I was expecting two different shows, and more "human" moments. Sounded like a big fucking medley at moments. Brillantly played, with conviction and devotion, but still a fucking medley. We didn't get a "state of grace" jam, there was no room for real impros.

So, mixed feelings. It had many qualities, at times it was fantastic, but it was not outstanding in terms of a concert. Don't get me wrong, I'll put my hands on a soundboard recording right this minute, it was a very good performance (the 1st concert was the best one, IMHO). But many annoying details, starting with the price, made it bittersweet.

Mee too, on both counts!
Whole band was nicely coordinated while all retaining an individual look. Everyone wore black at the 2nd show - expect Prince, of course, who wore this stunning white suit with some black pattern on it. He also wore glitter in his hair! Never noticed that before. It was very subtle.
Cora was all in white and looked very happy throughout. She threw her sticks into the audience after each of the 3 encores. I think she loved the crowd.
Shelby wore a black dress but tights that were one leg black and one leg white which looked really cool. She lost the cape which is good, imo.

Sound is good but were there Cathedral like echoes ? lol sorry about your experience sad thing is when one show costs more than the other the only justification I can see is if the money is going to charity,Otherwise the higher the longer or varied the set should be...

To be more specific :

- I felt sorry for the 149 EUR seat tickets. They were far away from the stage. I'd expect them to be on the left and right of the stage. But there's a reason...

- This room's reverb is 3 seconds long, at least. I mean it's like a giant tin can. The sound was the best the engineers could get out of it. During the 1st show, I was in the third row, I didn't notice. The 2nd one was, oddly, full of tall people, I mean basketballers. Nobody could see a damn thing, so many people started to wander in the hall to get a better view. I can tell you, in certain spots, it sounded like a giant ghetto blaster playing in a cathedral at full volume. Ugh.

@utopia7 : Well I sure hope the 2nd show income goes to charity, man ! But I'm one of the one thousand zealots that went insane and bought both shows, we were expecting him for years. Probably the 2nd show has been great for some as the 1st one has been for me. He often says : "too many hits!", and he surely has a band capable of playing a hundred songs. So why a replica of the same show, P ?

WHAT??!!?? I could not disagree more!!!!! The audience was totally ace - ok, I was in the 2nd row, you'd expect to be surrounded by true fams there, but I thought I could definitely feel & hear all the other 5998 people behind me singing along to all the hits!?!!! Prince reacted to that real strongly too - lots of happy smiles.

I went to the 2nd show only. I'm average height (for a girl), not a basket baller... lol

I do agree with you though on the issue of sound - the sound was crap.
I do hope he plays a residency in proper concert halls - with the sound he & his band & us fans deserve!

The Montreux set lists weren't similar, did they ?

They were somewhat. Not as bad as this one, admittedly. I wouldn't mind going back and listening / living through the exact same show / experience right now!
Instead I'm on the Eurostar back home to London right now. On leaving Paris I have the distinct impression I'm going the wrong way!...

As there were hundreds trying to get tickets just to one show, it shows how selfish some people are.

Why should he do 2 different shows?
Anyway i enjoyed the second show.

Well I am sure as you've read from various concert threads this is what's been happening to us stateside for the past 11 + years now, some would say "well stop going so many times "confused ( serial concert goer wave)I do think there is a bit of complacency here on Prince's part ex: turning the set list page with my own hand and peeking at the long list of songs he could do , he chooses to remain tour after tour re-visiting the same songs he promised to bury years ago. Perhaps his way of beating us over the head with it for the average fan who only wishes hear only the hits.Meanwhile the die-hards relish the slightest chance to hear the rare songs.Another angle could be depending on how many shows if his voice will belt out certain songs without him doing those rushed medleys....which many (my self included) can't tolerate. The very last point is him avoiding bootleg recordings.... now that I thin of it with the exception of the Monaco set list (loved it) the last time Prince really dug into his material was 2000-2003 celebration days.

I guess at this stage in the game it's nice to be there for certain concert moments like LRC Montreux he took his time with the song those are the kind of emotion which re-invents and connects us to a live experience.

Why should he do two shows in one day? Why not a) rehearse a tour and b) tour? And by "tour" I mean: announce concert dates in advance, so people can PLAN these things.

Oh, and good to see he's promoting his latest opus by playing songs that are even older than the hits he used to play on previous tours. Man, the music he released after becoming free from WB must be too good to play live.
