O(+> Big 2day? Do u think Prince would be doing really well in the charts and with the fans if he was still called ??
I think he would because with a name like that he was much more into his music spiritually when he was called that. Dose make me wonder...

Just imagine what a legendary icon he could have been if he'd stuck with his childhood nickname:
Skipper and the Revolution!

Hahaha Just last night I was thinking wouldn't it be weird if Prince was English?
In the song "Little Red Ford Fiesta" the line would now be... "She said baby, have U got enough petrol?" I don't think it would have been the same somehow. PS: I really gotta stop smoking this shit.

I guess Prince had a lot of good reasons to change his name in '93, but promotion wise, the name change was a catastrophe.
No one but the hard core fans understood this symbol thing - 99% of the buying market didn't understood what it was all about, I guess Prince in may 2000 realized this, that he couldn't sell records as - and therefor changed his name back to Prince. Remember the press conference back then, may 2000....? All the 1993 name change did to Prince's career was confusion. And it scared a lot of fans away. imo. Prince would be "invissible" today, if he was still known as: TAFKAP, Taffy, The Symbol, Lovesign, Mr. Squiggle, etc.... Prince 4Ever.

Nah, the name change turned sone people off but the bottom line is that, after about Duamonds and Pearls (with the exception of TMBGITW) zprinces music became too self-indulgent and, rightly or wrongly, it was about what HE wants to hear not what others want. It no coincidence that, if you ask newbues what got them into Prince, it won't he anything recent. He shot himself in the foot a longtime ago....only a back catalogue release would see chart success

Not to mention he talked against record companies in interviews and was placed on a blacklist until 2004. **--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••-

The symbol and artist formerly known as Prince etc did turn me away.
I was tired of all the media nonsense. To this day I don't like any song where he sings, "you can call me this or you can call me that." Just keep it to Prince and lets not talk about it. Shut up and dance "Free URself, B the best that U can B, 3rd Apartment from the Sun, nothing left to fear" Prince Rogers Nelson - Forever in my Life -
