Hi Scififilmnerd,
A great piece of work pull the lists and reports together. Keep it up. My only concern is that there is an element of guess work and theorising, which to the lesser hardcore fan may misunderstand to be canon (particularly in the Ultimate threads). The worst thing the hardcore fans could do is blur the line between fact and conjecture. Whilst every contributor means well, without the source clearly identified, we should be careful what we commit to threads, articles and books. Before we know it, the next generation will assume it to be true. Its particularly important in Prince world, where the recording process is so fragmented. For all the good research work done by Controversy, Per, the Uptown and Housequake teams as well as yourself, there still conjecture that has the danger of being blurred over time into supposed fact. Anyway, I had a quick scan down the list, heres a couple of updates off the top of my head. Prince remix of Stevie Wonder's Cold Chill (7:20) - Source: Promo release Gett Off Urge Dub (4:35) - Source: Promo release Deborah Allen - Telepathy (7:55) and instrumental (5:07) - Source: Official release I Wonder #2 should be I Wonder #3. Version #2 is 5:05. Version #3 is an edit of 2 coming in at 3:45 - Source: Studio master tape in the market Jill Jones For Love Remix edit (4.02) - Source: Released Do you want to include protege remixes where Prince performed the usual backing track but is not responsible for the remix itself? At the moment you've got some of the non prince mixes (eg Heaven Must Be Here and Koo Koo) but are missing some 50-100 others (eg three remixes of Jaguar). Edits. You've got some listed but the majority are missing. Then there are the straight forward instrumentals of protege tracks (eg Yo Mister). As instrumentals, there are of course pure Prince. I used to run a database but I haven't done anything to it in four years. I'll try and dig it out. Keep up the great work! . | |

Yeah, I know, I haven't been consistent on that one. Initially I didn't want the remixes that Prince didn't do in the list, but then some of them found their way into the list regardless. Yeah, I know, I haven't been very consistent on that one, either. Initially I didn't want all the 7 inch "edits" that just fade out in my list, only proper edits. Yes, those should be included. SquirrelMeat said: Keep up the great work!
