OK.... i re-did my additions/corrections.
The Lewis Conection, Moonsound, Minneapolis, 1977 - Guitar & background vocals: Prince Got To Be Something Here* (Sonny Thompson) == Prince is NOT on this. ----- The Hookers/Vanity 6, home studio, late 1981 – early 1982 Moral Majority #1 == Wasn't this just a dummy title for "We Can Fuck?" Prince thought Warner would never approve that title and used this title to throw them off. ----- Piano rehearsal, 1983 – tentative placing There’s No Telling What I Might Do (0:55) – possibly identical with Wednesday == Indeed the same song as "Wednesday." ----- Purple Rain, home studio, late October – November 1983 – test pressing of album 7 November 1983 Wednesday (24/10) – lead vocal: Jill Jones, possibly identical with There’s No Telling What I Might Do == 1:42 "If you're not back by Wednesday, there's no telling what I might do." Father’s Song (1:12) (29/10) (John L. Nelson?) == a 5:15 piano version exists. ----- The Family, Eden Prairie Warehouse, June – 18 July 1984 Feline #1 (14/7) – tom-toms: Bobby Z. Rivkin & Jellybean Johnson, saxophone: Eric Leeds == 3:57 Some of the lyrics later ended up in "Holly Rock." ----- Four-hour Paisley Jam, Sunset Sound, 28 December 1985 - guitar & piano: Prince, drums: Sheila E, bass: Levi Seacer, Jr., saxophone: Eric Leeds Slaughterhouse #1 == 8:07, a second take lasts for only 1:47. A midtempo funk groove. U Just Can’t Stop == 8:01, Uptempo funk jam. Eric overdubbed flute on to this as well. Run Amok == 6:00, A shuffling rock groove, think Brownsville Station "Smokin In The Boys Room" Mobile == 6:20 Madrid #1 – part of the melody re-used on Andorra == 9:15, a 6:56 edit exists as well Breathless – remixed 4/10-‘88 == 6:47, slow airy number. Lots of sax and flute from Eric, and some loud stingers to make sure you're still paying attention. Might be my favorite from this session. High Calonic == 10:13, slow funk number, pretty sick sax part from Eric on this. 12 Keys (The Question Of U Instrumental) == 6:30 instrumetal version. Levi sits this one out. ----- Sunset Sound, 30 December 1985 - guitar & piano: Prince, drums: Sheila E, bass: Levi Seacer, Jr., saxophone: Eric Leeds Voodoo Who == 5:29, slow bluesy number. Prince calling out chords to the band. Starts to sing Sade's "Is It A Crime" midway through. Finest Whiskey == Definitely Prince just joking around to a slow blues number. "Bring me yo finest whiskey and yo most strongest bottle of wine, cuz (stumbles over lyrics) i'ma have to be filthy drunk to get yo black ass off my mind." A Couple Of Miles #2 (Instrumental) – tenor & baritone saxophone: Eric Leeds == 4:30 ----- Seven-hour Everybody’s Jam, Sunset Sound, 5 January 1986 - drums: Prince, percussion: Sheila E & Jonathan Melvoin, bass: Levi Seacer, Jr., saxophone: Eric Leeds, guitar & bass: Wendy Melvoin, piano: Lisa Coleman Groove In C Minor == 8:00, real funky groove. Prince calling out changes and solos to the band. Slow Groove In G Major == 9:53, i hesitate to think that it's not Prince on guitar on this one... but it very well could be Wendy. Groove In G Flat Minor == 13:00, really fast one (about 155 bpms), Prince asks someone about a minute into it if they want a job. LOL. There is also a live-in-studio vocal version of "For Love" that might be from this session as well. It clocks in at nearly 28 minutes and is funky as all hell. "For love I would suffer fucking from another..." ----- Sheila E, early January 1988 The Ghetto (Donny Hathaway/Hutson) – cover of Donny Hathaway == Just for the sake of completion, that would be Leroy Hutson ----- Nona Gaye, Paisley Park, 5 November 1993 Inner City Blues (Marvin Gaye) – tentative placing == is this the version on the "Inner City Blues" tribute album from 1995? ----- Love Sign – The Remixes, pre June 1994 Ted’s Get ‘em Up Mix (6:30) Ted’s Funky Chariot Mix (6:57) Ted’s Double Trouble Mix (6:57) Ted’s Love Sign Radio Mix (6:19) == I saw in your article on "Come" that you just had these credited to "Ted," these are actually Teddy Riley remixes. ----- Stevie Wonder, pre 21 March 1995 Cold Chill (Stevie Wonder) – guitar: o)+> (unreleased) == I assume this is Prince's remix that was released on the iTunes only "Complete Stevie Wonder" box set? ----- Face Down EP, pre April 1997 X-Tended Rap Money Mix (4:51) Instrumental Money Mix (4:02) Acapella Face (2:21) == weren't these released on promo 12" and CD singles? ----- Crystal Ball, 1996-1997 Movie Star #3 (4:25)* - with intro from Jam Of The Year, party girl: Susannah Melvoin, omits the “right there, honey” part New Power Generation: Newpower Soul, May – August 1997 Sadomasochistic Groove #1 (5:26) (May/June) – available from NPGMC since 7/7-2001 == Isn't this different from the NPGMC version? This would be the version that had been posted in snippet form very briefly on Love4oneanother.com, right? If I recall correctly, this version was quite stripped down and much better than what eventually came out in full. ----- Prince & The NPG: One Nite Alone… The Aftershow: It Ain’t Over! New York, New York, 9 April 2002 Medley: Just Friends (Sunny) (T. Johnson/C. Haggins/I. Barias/V. Davis/B. Hebb)/If You Want Me To Stay (Sylvester Stewart) (Featuring Musiq) (4:26)* == ?uestlove of the Roots is on drums for this, but not credited on the box set.

one more factoid:
Unnamed project, home studio, 1981 Strange Way Of Saying I Love You (2:09) == Not intended for any project. This was recorded in response to an argument that Prince had with Lisa. She left the studio one day and when she came back, he had this song waiting for her. Lisa wouldn't hear it again until 20+ years later.

Moral Majority #1 == Wasn't this just a dummy title for "We Can Fuck?" Prince thought Warner would never approve that title and used this title to throw them off. A part of We Can Fuck was bootlegged as Moral Majority. I always just assumed it was a mistake as it isn't uncommon that tracks are bootlegged under wrong titles. brainchild said: Piano rehearsal, 1983 – tentative placing

This is a very helpful thread but it is largely based on research that was done but all of us at the UPTOWN staff. I know because I personally researched a great deal of this myself. Congrats for compiling this, but from what I read on here, most of this has been published in some form in Days Of Wild or one of the other UPTOWN publications.
Thanx for putting this out there because it is an amazing list and your passion is obvious about this topic. The expanded version of my book PRINCE and The Purple Rain Era Studio Sessions 1983-1984 was released in November 2018. phenomenal
you deserve a round of applause for all these amazing threads! two more songs i might have skipped over: "all the king's horses", which was sent to clare fisher for contribution, iirc somewhere in late 2000 or early 2001. might have been something for the rainbow children? "streets of panama", which has been reported by a few 'in the know' orgers as having been replaced as the closing track on 3121 with "get on the boat". and true love lives on lollipops and crisps

another missing track from the list:
Common "Star *69 (PS With Love)" from his Electric Circus album. Prince plays keys and guitar on this, albeit buried wayyyyy back in the mix. Not certain on the date of recording, but I'm led to believe it was spring/summer of 2001. and no, he's not involved at all on the very prince-esque interlude that concludes the track... though his Linn Drum was used for the piece. he was asked to contribute guitar to the album's closer, "Heaven Somewhere", which features most of the guest artists that appeared on the album, but declined.
