PrintableI remember asking about how to find aftershow info before going to my first show in April of '97. Someone replied that once you see him live, you'll forever be changed and boy, was that the truth! I ended up getting floor tickets and was right in front of the stage, leaving me deaf and mute (lost my voice) for a couple of days after.
I've since gone to 25+ shows/aftershows, including the Celebrations. He was actually the reason I was willing to fly further than a 45 minute flight to Cali.. On one flight home from MPLS, we took off in such a horrible storm, I thought that if we went down, at least I'd finally been to Paisley Park! 
It becomes an addiction that you'll NOT want to cure and you'll be willing to sell your soul and go into debt to feed.  | |

Believe me, some of my family and friends have probably thought the same thing though. Especially after I did a 10 day stay in Vegas because I didn't want to fly home in between shows. (and that was my third trip during the 3121 residency!)
But, I haven't packed for Paris yet, so I do have some limits. | |

First let me say, since you have in in the past been given such a hard time for "newbie" posts, GREAT question! And to answer your question, after seeing him 8 times it is ALWAYS worth the money. It's best when his tour represents the album it's supporting, but I guess more profitable when it's a greatest hits review. Of the tours I've seen, Lovesexy, 'Act I' (for the  album) & One Nite Alone were all primarily focused on new material and more enjoyable than Love41Another Charities Tour, Jam Of The Year (twice), the 2000 Hit & Run tour & the Musicology tour which were primarily focused on hits and contained to many truncated medley-jams. Even with a hits show though, you get a great show with top notch musicianship and since you've never seen him live it will be new to you regardless!! 
I still haven't caught an aftershow though, I did go to a couple afterparties that he attended but knowing what it could be it sucks not getting the real thing... one day I WILL see an aftershow, I insist...  Don't hate your neighbors. Hate the media that tells you to hate your neighbors. |
