Cool: anyone know the chord changes? I know the bassline is B.....F# G# A
What are the 2 synth chords that go over it? F#min7 and then what? my bandmate plays like a Amajor triad then drops the top E note down to D# but think it's something different. also ther's a modulation right before the chorus..... the strings hold a hight note and something else happens till it resolves back to the main riff. Any help please?

When the bass hits the F#, play an Amaj triad. When it hits the G#, play a G#min triad. Toejam @ Peach & Black Podcast: http://peachandblack.podbean.com

so i guess my bandmate was right I felt like the E to D# weren't the right top notes but i gues they are. So what about the little modulation before the chourus? The strings hold some high note (a D?) and what does the synth do over that? He was playing Amin triad over it? Does the bass change too or it stays B F# G#?

OK, I just had another listen... I agree - you can hear the E on top in the second chord so here's my revised version
When the bass hits the F#, it's an Amaj chord over the top. When it hits the G#, it's an Emaj chord in first inversion - G#, B, E. When it goes to the D, the bass is going D... A, B, C When the bass hits the A, it's a Cmaj chord over the top. When it hits the B, it's a Gmaj chord in first inversion - B, D, G Hope that makes sense! I like the modulation chords you gave (Cmaj/Gmaj). ANd it is a high D the strings are holding right? I saw Purple Reign in Vegas do this and the keyboard player just kinda held a chords over this sequence rather than doing the 2 his . BTW I like your first chords better, the Amaj to G#min. I think the 2nd chord is like both of them....like holding down notes from both chords. i think they vary it each time maybe. The thing is sometimes I was playing F#min7 to Emaj..... like over the F# play Amaj 2nd inversion so tope note is C# and then a regular Ejam chod I kinda like the top notes being C# to B but not sure what is "right". If you can play the 2nd half where Prince goes wild on the synths I will be totally scared of you man!
