Do You Have Mood Swings With Prince I have two types of mood-swings.
The first one comes from the whole youtube thing.I get mad seeing him miss out on the fun of having his music recognize and possibly making more money. Also,it pissed me off when I read that story about him suing a baby lol. After I read that I could barely listen to his music,I felt like I wasn't appreciated.But I'v got over it and moved on to being a loyal fan. Now this is a different mood-swing. Do you just start getting attractive to a certain era,and just start listen to that era music for a certain amount of weeks?Lately I've been caved to D&P & Batman era.I havent listen to any other era in 2 weeks. Prince is a horrible/disgusting human being -- I've heard things first hand, not to mention what gets out on the celebrity gossip tip.
But, personally, I find his 1978-1988 output to be All That! I'm cool with it. | |

Well, he's such a complicated guy that I sometimes love and sometimes loath him. I don't have any interest in communicating or meeting him and would tell him to get the fuck out my face if we ever did. He's given me enough as an artist though that I can't really dislike him. | |

The stories of physical and mental stuff he's done is surely at least partly true. However, I can't help thinking that the guy who wrote the lyrics to "The Belle of St. Mark" (I'm pretty sure he did, and I've been listening to it alot)and many others has to have a lot of heart. | |

No I don't have mood swings with any artist. I listen to too much different music. But I have special music for my moods. Like:

im not going to lie i like Princes music but in reality hes an asshole im not saying that to be mean im saying that because his actions reflect that such as suing his own fanbase trying to dismantle peoples freedom of speech on talking about YouTube him in public how he treated his co workers band members and other assocaites in the past all this and not once did he ever issue a single apology to the fans his former employees or to the mother and a child that he threatened to sued that lawsuit was a bunch of bullshit and immature on princes part picking on a defenceless mom and child like that when she probably already bought the damn album in the first place he really needs to get off his high horse and humble himself

Then when I lived in New York and worked in the entertainment law community many of those stories were corroborated and embellished. Other great artists and cultural figures of note who's work is greatly admired have been in similar boats. Miles Davis, Charles Mingus, Buck Owens and Alan Watts are a few that come to mind. My point is: as a "fan" of these people you're a fan of the art not the artist. Now, given what Cornell West just said about Prince as posted in an another thread here recently, I might be inclined to rethink my negative view of Prince as a person these days. Prince is rotten inside, he complains about being exploited and like most people who complain of being exploited, they exploit others as much as they can get away with it. It's ok with me, I don't look for intellectual or moral leadership from a pop star so as long as he makes music I'll listen. You know what's worse though? Him not having the balls to own up to some of the things he's done and claim they were lies once he sees he's truly in danger of losing his only fans, what a wimp.If he don't like gays that's one thing, it's even worse in my mind for him to deny he said it, because that's a deeper flaw in him as a man. | |
