Reason i made this topic is because in last 10 years and more
every time Prince perform this perfect 80's little ditty
he sounds like going through the motions
considering the fact how he played it in the 80's.

so What live version you find the best???

My favorite version is from New Orleans 1982
it's amazing version from amazing concert.

close second is When U Were Mine live from 1988

Sure, it was a bit short but wow, what a great rendition of a great song. The vocals, the energy, the band, and the slight changes in the lyrics ( " I know that you´re going with another fella, I don´t care , I kick his ass baby, you know I ain´t too yella!")

My favorite version is the live one by Ani DiFranco with Maceo Parker on it. Slowed down and emotional!

If you were referring to which version of Prince's is the best, the earlier ones where he says, "I know that you're goin' with another muthafucka....", like the Aug. 1983 performance. Like Ernest said, the earlier the better.
