Adonis & Bathsheba

This could've been one of Prince best songs if he would've released it and made the song longer. That song has the best saxophone work ever.

I've never heard Adonis & Bathsheba so I don't know that it is the best saxophone work ever.

Actually, the best saxophone work I've ever heard is Dave Brubeck's "Take Five". I'm not a big fan of saxophone, but I love the sax on that song. Take a listen, TheKing662. smile

Yeah, I like that snippet. Prince has so many amazing tracks in the vault. I think this is one of the few reasons why I like that it's in the vault bcuz it's great. It takes u back 2 that time and it makes u wonder. Adonis & Bathsheba, Hard 2 Get, Everybody Wants What They Don't Got, Go, Big House, and even Traffic Jam gives me great reason 2 believe that the vault has some amazing and mayb some of his best work ever. I wanna hear them all in full. I bet they r great 2 hear. Let's hope Prince decides 2 finally release another Crystal Ball album bcuz that would b great right now.

Actually it's just a rework of Crucial, or the other way round.

Totally. And personally I'd rather listen to Crucial. But A & B does have somewhat intriguing lyrics tho.

Crucial has to be one of his greatest songs. Beautiful vocals. I'm not sure which version of it I prefer. Maybe the guitar version...

Hey, I find it quite cool to see a young kid who understands how wonderful actual music is. Hip hop is fine, but it's not the only thing out there. I bet this King dude gets picked on for liking Prince. We should be his buddy..lol

Fantastic track. Paints a visual in your mind when it's on. I based a playlist on my ipod around this track and it came out pretty nice.
When eye go 2 a Prince concert or related event it's all heart up in the house but when eye log onto this site and the miasma of bitchiness is completely overwhelming!

Adonis & Batsheba

2 an orgy in a garden of flowers
Adonis & Batsheba flew
All of creation awaits them
As they dance by the crystal blue
Stream of desire and erotic rebellion
That parade through their hearts and minds
They look at one another as much as they don't
2 touch is their need
2 love they are blind
An abandoned gazebo houses what looks 2 be a perfect place
they undress as they re running
Batsheba crying
Adonis - sweat upon his face
4 them there is no morning
Only night decisions so grand
There is no bed, how will they ever
They decide 2 stand
No bed, they decide 2 stand
Adonis & Batsheba in a garden of flowers

it's got a drum machine and percussion based sound, it's a bit shit like big tall wall, but slightly better. it sounds like some graffit bridge era outtake from 89/90

lyrics are...

when i was a little bitty baby, i tell u what my mama used 2 say, all the little babies who love me, prayed 2 the god each day. i hope that god lives in the big house so i can take my friends with me, one day i'm gonna party in the glory, one day we'll all be free. i used to pray for candy, the singer in my favourite band. now i'm older, i'm gonna shake his hand, blah blah blah

The lyrics were printed in a magazine that Prince started and abandoned in 94. There was only one issue. It was like a sort of fashion magazine called "10,000."

Having just read the full lyrics it strikes me that there is a similarity to All the Midnights, the continual flow of poetic lyrics that seem to mold themselves around the song rather than just sit on top.

The sample suggests this is a great song, what was susan Rogers talking about. I take anything that women says about his music with a great big lump of salt.

Didn't Prince get some artwotk mocked up for this song in the late 1990's, plus publishing the lyrics this suggests he's fond of the song.

Maybe one day he'll release it.
