It's amazing as Always and Prince has out done himself yet again. I Totally Love It. This album has the Most Romantic Songs on it and he just Makes you feel Calm,Beautiful,Peaceful and Serene with this music. It is Definitely a Sexy Love-Making Album and it gives you the feeling of Deep Pleasure. It's Stunning! Non-Prince fans would be Shocked that this music is Prince who also wrote Sister. He just amazes me each and every time with what he Creates. He is a True Musician and that is so rare a find today.

Overall: 7/10. I think it's refreshing, by no means his best, but I love hearing something that no one ever xpected (pun intended!). Track 7 is just a jam on a chord progression that is used briefly in The Sensual Everafter, and track 6 is a bit tedious, but the rest is pure magic - especially the last track - DAMN!!.

To all those Prince haters that emerged in the previous months (we know who you are!) I hope this album put a sock in your mouth!

Couldn't agree more with juhlamies...Madhouse 2003 this most definately is!

What a surprise it was when I logged on in the afternoon of New Years Day and found an e-mail with a link to download a new album. That was totally unexpected and a lovely start to 2003.

About the music...well Jazz Fusion is the key here. I know loads of people will hate this album and you will get the usual club members who seem to not like any output that came from NPGMC in 2002 but I for one am happy. On another link somebody was bemoaning the fact that "you should all go and listen to real jazz" because it isn't the same as some Mingus, Monk or even Sahib Shihab...well that last one is one I just added cos I know my jazz and am very satisfied with what Prince and the band have done on the tracks included.

The only slightly negative thing I have to say is that it would have been great if some artwork had been available to go with the album. However, this just meant that I had to design my own and if any of you use Neato labelling for your CDs send me an e-mail and I will send you the files for a book, tray and label. Looks sexy!

Well must go and fire up the CD player and Amp for another blast of Xpectation and get around to downloading Empty Room(although I am not a big fan of this track).

Peace and Happy New Year!

Funny you should say Madhouse cause that's Exactly what i was thinking except Prince has Vanessa Mae. I do believe Prince is so Forward moving and so Advanced and you Know I Totally get more and More Excited seeing that my Man who I Adore! adore is so well rather Upper Crust and I do believe he is Quite CHIC!

I think it is a fantastic piece of work. People are quick to label it as 'jazz' etc - but to me it just sounds fantastic! Call it what you want.

Ah...

Xpectations. I'm gushing I think it is so damn good.

Now mind you, I'm still bitter about ONA and ONA Live (my opinion is the cds were simply filler. He was more concerned about people attending the concerts.)

I was listening to it at work and President of the company makes a comment "I didn't know you liked jazz." After explaining I dig the sub genres (acid, fusion, vocal) I told him it was Prince. There was a glimmer of shocked recognition.

In all honesty. I'm not ready to forgive for last year but, Prince is on his way to make amends.

In regards to the live stuff...I truly enjoy Empty Room. (one of the few)

IT's so good to have this site back up.

Ciao

Well...I have to say thanks to P. for putting this out. Just heard it once it is hard to form a solid opinion about it. But I am happy to have some Xperimental stuff again..it seems P. is getting interested in his musicianship again. This has been for some years (1998/1999/2000) different. I guess we can say surely now: Prince is Back! Just look at ONA, ONA live & Xpectations. Experimental, daring, great musicianship, a great band, etc..

Personally I think Xpectation is an amazing musical experience, a truly inspired work and a nice addition to the NPGMC releases.
I really hope that one day a regular CD with artwork and CD quality will be released (according to the Vanessa Mae site it should be before April)... I think this great album absolutely deserve it.

Great. I love it.

The playing is fantastic and as a whole, I find it very new and inspired.

Vanessa Mae is also a fantastic addition. She adds a new dimension to his work.

Dig it.

I'm curious how much of it was composed by Prince and how much was contributed by the rest of the musicians. Especially those strings.

Okay, this guy's reading my mind or something. I had just been saying how I'd like to be able to pop in several Prince CDs and get a totally - and I mean totally - different vibe with each one. Xpectation fits the bill.
The Truth and One Nite Alone piano and vox are great and different, but with Xpectation you might not even know it's Prince. Great job by the band.
After all this time, this brutha still impresses.

By the way, is Track 1 supposed to be just 44 seconds? Mine cuts off there abruptly.
