The Fever

The Fever....the Fever for the hunt of Prince and Associate items. Where has it gone. I remember years ago going to pawn shops to "wreaka stows" and to yard sales just hoping to find that special item. I remember 15 yrs ago going to a pawn shop in Charleston, SC on HWY 17 and finding 15 unopened long box Madhouse 8 cds for a $1.00 each. Why did I not buy them all....shame shame. Going to the Goodwill and finding old 12inch singles and hoping no one else saw them sitting there before I purchased them. The times have truly changed. Now you have EBAY, AMAZON, and big corporate chain music shops that only catered to what's hot at the moment. I miss the Hunt, the Search, and the feeling I got when I found that special something.

Who else fells this way?

I do miss the thrill of the hunt. That being said I love the internet and e-bay and Gemm. I have records I would never have found otherwise! Here is my latest internet find straight from a fellow orger:

Not sure I would have found this beauty without the internet.

it just came to ya, enlightened and desparate. hungry for the sort of attention it had heard you gave so freely...you held back knowing what that sort of plea would lead to and really loving yourself, afraid to be the one who made her day. knowing you were equally empassioned with her gift..... eek.....oh i mean the cd, yeah.

The only Paisley Park release I'm missing is Jacob Armen.

The only released track by Prince I'm missing is "San Jose Jam".

Everything else I have in one form or another.

The hunt is over.

biggrin
When eye go 2 a Prince concert or related event it's all heart up in the house but when eye log onto this site and the miasma of bitchiness is completely overwhelming!

Prince collecting was really fun back in the day.
If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.

Yeah this fever is gone.

I still haven't listened to the Bria Cd, & the Tamar stuff was awful.

Back then, in the 80s, it was so fun to experience Sheila E., The Time, Vanity 6 & Apollonia 6, Madhouse etc. etc.

Not anymore.

Prince broke up his internal musical family back in the 90's to seek 'enlightenment'....I sure hope he has found it because ever since its been
a train wreck.

I've never had this fever for any artist. Though being on the org does make me want to listen to/ or get tracks everyone is talking about.

It probably also comes with age - when I was 14, 15, I rushed to the record shop first thing after school the day a new Prince record was released, and then spent the next days "locked up" playing the record back and forth...

And when I discovered the "boot market", which in those days was asking behind the counter or seeing something on a record fair, the hunting fever got even stronger (although not as extreme as with some fellow orgers, I gotta admit biggrin )

But now - well, I do still buy all of his CDs, but it does take me time to listen to them, and of course with being older and with work and young kids, the time to concentrate and listen is not a given anymore...

But I do love the internet, because at night, when the rest is asleep, I can still go and look for undiscovered gems... cool

It's just the full length album version. I'm not sure why they labled it this way. Its the Austrailian 12" single.
