Prince track in Sopranos Season 3?

I might be barking up the wrong tree but can somebody confirm what the Prince track (if it is one) is on the 2nd Episode of Season 3 of The Sopranos is.

It's playing as Furio (?) is snorting drugs on an office whilst everybody is getting ready for Tonys mums funeral.

I've never heard it before but it's performed on the Camille voice and says something about people being on their knees.

If it's not Prince it's VERY similar and sounds excellent

thanks

Thanks - it's none of those tracks....perhaps it's an uncredited song. It sounds exactly like Prince so perhaps he provided them with something....although Season 3 is from 2001, by which time Prince was well into thou shall not swear, thou shall not mention sex, thou shall not have fun phase and I don't think Sopranos would be on his Skyplus box

If it is Prince, then I know of nothing that was specifically recorded for the Sopranos exclusively.

You've mentioned some lyric content above - can you provide a more precise lyric quotation? If it is Prince, someone should be able to say which song.

At the moment, the only songs with lyric content about 'knees' that come to mind are:

Anotherloverholenyohead (from the Parade album):
"Face 2 face, baby, I'll tell U down on my knees"

Dead On It (from the Black Album):
"All the sisters like it when U lick 'em on the knees"

Acknowledge Me (from Crystal Ball)
"But I'm gonna blow this horn until U're on your knees"

but I stronly suspect you'd recognise all of these..

I suspect it is "Shake It (Like You Just Made Bail)" (not Prince) based on what is written here (Season 3, Episode 2 - cocaine scene):

http://en.wikipedia.org/w...hawn_Smith

There is a sample player on Smith's website, which includes the track, but I can't get it to play at the moment:

I'll watch it again tonight and get a better listen at the lyrics (it was very late lastnight)....it's nothing that I recognise.

Like you say, probably a diff artist all together otherwise it would be common knowledge on here...but it just sounds so Princey AND has the Camille voice

Just wanted to confirm for you guys that the track is in fact Shake It (Like You Just Made Bail) by Shawn Smith. Shawn's had several other songs featured on The Sopranos as well, but more importantly, he's well known to be a HUGE Prince fan, and the influence comes through on many of his songs. Shawn covered "Sometimes it Snows in April" for his 1999 live album entitled Live at the Point.

One of the bands Shawn co-founded, The Twilight Singers, contributed an incredible rendition of "When Doves Cry" to Spin Magazine's Purplish Rain tribute album. Track can be streamed here, at the bottom of the article: http://www.spin.com/artic...-doves-cry

Thanks!
