We have had some really decent music this decade though: One Nite Alone (Piano), One Nite Alone Live, The Rainbow Children, Musicology, 3121, LotusFlower and MPLSound. The only realy "stinker" was Planet Earth and there are still a handful of good songs on that one. As the DVD was a recording of the new years eve concert of 1999 it was released in 2000. not being picky though She Believed in Fairytales and Princes, He Believed the voices coming from his stereo

You may not like the quality of the music since 1996 but he has put out a shit load of stuff since then and we did get a RAVE and ONE NIGHT ALONE CD so that was two in this decade. I would look for something with the next project or maybe he will just do something on his site. I think some of you forget that P is not with a major label and he would need to do a big tour to make a DVD profitable since he will be the one eating the cost if he puts out a DVD and it does not sell. While a lot of them can be found DVD on The Hits, Batman, PR, GB, and UTCM, it's so silly that some of the clips from ATWIAD, Lovesexy, and the early LPs through 1999 are not available at any price.
But heck, why not give a proper DVD release to Lovesexy Live, Prince and the Revolution Live, and Sign 'O' The Times at the bare minimum? Why not bundle it in with a "special edition" of the CDs? That's like printing money. He will not do it because of the p&d issues.

So, basicly, nobody knows why... Pity, it seems to me that Prince could make a lot of money...
As for it not being cost effective, how do other 'Artists' manage to release dvd's annually and not make a loss? Its not about money or contracts, in my opinion, he just doesn't want to! Rave dvd sold poorly as it was a live broadcast on internet and the dvd didn't come out for a while after, I think. The Aladin show was poorly edited, it didn't capture the true spirit of a Prince concert, the crappy hand held camera work didn't help and of course, the track listing only appealed to us lot. I don't think he could have expected to sell millions of copies without a track listing on Rave DVD cover only the die-hard fans would buy it. The casual music fan might not take a chance that there's songs on there that they'd know... Anyway, its only my opinion.

While it was a nice idea the RAve unto the joy, it wasn't magical. The area was too small to be spectacular. But my main gripe is that there were too many other artists. I wanted to see Prince. I've only ever seen the Lovesexy on video and that was brilliant!
In Rave unto the Joy he BARELY played any piano. It also wasn't a classical grand piano it was a spaceship one instead Finally, I only like to hear Sinead O'Connor sing "Nothing compares to you." I know he wrote it but she did it really well & that's the experience I have with that song. Why he didn't do Space, New world, the Human Body? But I must admit the American word for "Rave" does sit right with me either. It all kind of reminded me of a disappointing 2000 millenium party my friends and I went to. We had been having more fun at home listening to Carl Cox, live on the radio from down under. And I don't even like techno. We should never have gone to that party. I was in HMV looking through the music DVD section, the usual Prince ones - Purple Rain and One Night Alone - were there but thats all!!! He's THE best live performer and its impossible to legally get new concert dvd's! The Pussycat Dolls have more dvds out for their fans to buy!!! Can we, as lovers of his music and performances, somehow get together to show Prince and his 'people' how much a new live DVD would mean to his fans? Not to mention how much $$$ he could make... Imagine the O2 concerts on Blueray? Or the 7/Come Together clip in surround sound??? Come on Prince, its already recorded, let me give you some $$$ for these gems... I cant even get the One night alone dvd here in OZ - most stuff i have gotten in Oz had to be imported by wrecka stows i had a "break" from all things prince for a few yrs (real life cut in ) so i wanted to catch up, the lack of Dvds is so sad. seems that i was busy doing something close to nothing, but different than the day before

cuz he's a perfectionist and control freak to the n'th degree...any slight flaw in a live concert woould be unacceptable -
so this is why you will not see a true live dvd....you may get something that is overdubbed to the sh*thouse, but that is as good as it gets - so enjoy the official releases of Syracuse and Dortmund cuz you wont see anything like it again..... language and sexual innuendo will also prevent us seeing anything pre JW days. and if we did it would be completely ruined by editing
