I think i'll have to go with the rehearsal,he had more better parts,like the "heee" adlib,when he say's "oh wohh wowhh oh wow say it loud". Its proabaly better than the original.

I have never heard the other version so I can only agree that it is one of the best songs that Prince has ever created. It sounds like nothing on the radio then and now.
