it's one of my favourite videos as i'm in it. it was shot at the cafe de paris gig that's in the beautiful strange vhs. such a great show to be at, tiny venue and i was front row in the middle right in front of the mic stand

It's far from my favourite but I really like the version he performed on The Tonight Show when he was promoting Newpower Soul. The guitar is much louder in that version.

I agree with u. Come on is a real cool song. Funky as hell. Just got to love this song.
(I thought the video of this song was taped in a park in London: Prince plays an old and poor -oh, and horny- man, who plays his guitar for some money. Mani also plays a small role in this video. At the end he leaves the park with a limousine. Or isn't that the video of Come on? That's a real cool video...)

That's a real cool video...) the video was shot on the 28th august 1998. prince played wembley arena the day before, followed by an afterparty at the hippodrome (this was wednesday). on the thursday 28th, prince filmed scenes in hyde park with him dressed as a tramp, before heading to the cafe de paris for soundchecking later in the afternoon, the rest of the band and GCS and chaka were there in the afternoon too. in the evening he played a 1hr 50 min show at cafe de paris which was filmed for tv broadcast on channel 4 and release as the beautiful strange vhs, and the live performance of come on was used as the main footage of the video, interspersed with the hyde park footage and some later studio shots

if there is anything you ever do..try and get hold of the hallway version (thats what it sounds like atleast - some kind of live recording)
i love the original...but jesus...this version is the heaviest bass iv ever heard in a prince song...and one of the most thudding basses in general, just drops into a ravenous bass about 2 minutes in that made the car i was in shudder and vibrate when playing it on my friends system. Wouldn't you love to love me?

I think this is one of Prince's best songs (backwards in time to the beginning). It has as much cool mystique as Erotic City for me personally, and has a the coolest sound and attitude.
If I were making a best of, this track would be in it. My art book: http://www.lulu.com/spotl...ecomicskid

Very nice song, but choosing a favorite Prince song is harder than looking for a rose petal in a coral reef. "The Lion Sleeps Tonight...

Looooove it.
Has a special meaning 4 me too.It was played in the restaurant where me and my husband got engaged - totally randomly also - the waiter didn't even know what it was. Mani says "I don't like old men." Prince says "You don't like old men? I got the butter 4 your muffin.I'm just too old 2 hold the knife!." I love Prince when he acts silly - so cute.

It never did anything to me, to be honest.
To me it sounds like Prince 'going throughthe motions'. Its the kind of generic dance-funk song he could write and record in his sleep. The song just drags along without leaving an impression.

Such a great sliding twang solo too... This and "The One" are great moody productions.
I wish he would dig for more such cohesive flavors now... actually he did on "Boom" and too bad "Crimson and Clover" is a cover, it has a great sound too. Well I do like "No More Candy 4 U" I guess he always has a few gems on each cd... at least one. My art book: http://www.lulu.com/spotl...ecomicskid

We need to make more of a point of this. This performance was totally awesome. This is one that should be posted on the Lotusflower website. Or on Youtube if the rumours are true.

And i don't feel like I'm putting my neck on the line this time by saying Come On is a Prince classic
