What are the Lyrics to New Morning?

It´s a club in Paris where Prince played a copule of times in the 80s during the Parade tour ( with his father John L. Nelson joining him on stage) and later in 1987 when he played a terrrific set, most notably,IMO,for his rendition of Was It My Face?,a slow blues song that most bootleggers called "Wasn´t My Faith" which actually doesn´t really make much sense.

Both shows were great but the 1987 show has a much better sound quality.

That's a definite highlight of that show. Isn't the track referred to as 'What Did I Do?' I love the Mr Levi Seacer bit. lol
if you've gotta pay for things that you've done wrong I've gotta big bill coming at the end of the day- Gil Scott Heron

Yes, it is often referred to as "What Did I Do", some bootleggers called it "Wasn´t My Faith" (which is stupid) but he sings "Was It My Face".
I think your suggestion is the most appropriate one though.

Wow I want that one, but I have a really old tape I bought off a bootlegger years ago, its a really bad recording of the March 27 1985 Purple Rain Tour concert at Syracuse, it was cheep ass and wore out after 10 listens (The concert wasn't very good, near the end of the tour and features too many Sheila E drum solos for its own good)
So what are u going 2 do? R u just gonna sit there and watch? I'm not gonna stop until the war is over. Its gonna take a long time

I didn't see "Feline", "Miss Understood", or "No Call U" on this configuration. On the later versions, the above were added.
"A united state of mind will never be divided
The real definition of unity is 1
People can slam their door, disagree and fight it
But how U gonna love the Father but not love the Son?
United States of Division"

That concert was officially released on VHS tape back in the 80s. You should be able to find it quite easily on amazon or ebay.
There´s also an Atlanta concert of the same tour in circulation. Filmed professionally but not officially released. Different songs, for instance Father´s Song on piano etc.

So There Are No Lyrics?

I think I can help you.

"What Did I Do?"

[Key of A, children]

What did I do?
I beg you, flower
When I'm askin' underneath the tree

I want to know, sugar
What did I do?
To make you, make you
Make you punish your man
Was it my cologne?
Was it my ride?
Was it my hair?

Sugar tell me, tell me, tell me
Was it too long?
Do you wanna strap my best, shut it down?
[Eric, can you help me with the line one time?]

Yeah
Well, girl
I want to know
What did I do?
To make you treat me like a filthy dog
Sugar, I don't know what

Was it my face?
Was it my eyes?
Was it my lips?
Was it my hips?

I want to know when I lost you, child, in the game

[the remainder of the words are primarily addressed to the musicians]

Sourced from UPTOWN #46
"You don't frighten us, English pig dogs. Go and boil your bottoms, sons of a silly person."
