Prince & The Revolution Live!!!AMAZINGG! What Do You Think? [b] So I ordered my Prince & The Revolution Live: Part of the Purple Rain Tour.
Prince has truly evolved as a performer. It was a mind blowing experience to take a look back into the nostalgic years of when Prince was in his younger age. I personally love love love love every type of band/persona that Prince has created. Taking a look at this concert as well as juxtaposing with concerts that he has done in the present-it is so INTERESTING! His energy level does not go down @ all-NEVER- through the entire concert. The band as a whole all share this same level of intensity, ESPECIALLY WENDY!! she kicks soo much ass, its ridiculoous!! And I absolutely love the cimrodery between she and Prince! it truly brings tears to my eyes! His sexuality is phonemenal! He is constantly making sexual gestures to the auidience which is incredibal! Today he is still an AMAZING, MIND BLOWING performer. Maybe he is not crawling on the floor, spinning down a pole, or humping the ground (AWESOME!) he is still a man of marvelous talent who knows how to rock the hell out of a stage. He is a constant worker with a passion that can not be duplicated or recyled. This concert is a must see and even though I own this on VHS, it still looks amazing. In fact I like it more for authentic preferences. The passion that is witnessed on stage brings tears 2 my eyes and fills my soul with true joy as well as sadness. Classically, @ the end of the concert, Purple Rain is perforemed and let me just say that Wendy again starts of the song with true passion. Her face is still and her hands stroke the guitar with intensity that sends goose bumps down your spine. And since this is a concert where Prince is able to elaborate as much music passion as he wants which is what makes the song even more powerful. Prince could repeat a song on stage 100 million times and still it would be 2 marvelous 4 words(in the words of FRANK SINATRA!) THIS IS A MUST SEE CONCERT YALL! PLEASE TAKE YOURSELF INTO THE SOUL AND POWER OF THE PURPLE 1! 4 ONE NIGHT CLIMB THE PURPLE LATTER WITH HIM AND SHARE HIS POWERFUL MUSICOLOGY! "Happy is the way 2 meet your burden"<3

I got the Purple Rain tour video as a Christmas present in 1985 (UK here) I too thought it was amazing. However I dont feel the revolution had anything to do with it. They are lumbersome etc. However what I do think is that they gave Prince white credibility. Wendy comes across like a lady and in 1984/5 that would have been like an ant acid to Prince's public sleezy perception prior to 1984. I know I sound cynical but this is not his peak, this is just his peak in terms of the fame we want him to have

It was a simple question no more no less mani.
No need for the rude remarks Now my second legit question would be this: Did you listen to the albums prior? If so what are your thoughts? Not articulating anything yet..... [Edited 9/13/09 5:22am] Smurf theme song-seriously how many fucking "La Las" can u fit into a dam song

I like when Prince is playing the piano (can't remember which song) and he knocks over his chair. A roadie then picks it up and Prince looks at it and knocks it over again. Priceless.

Yep, I bought this on vhs when it was first released. It's a cool show. I attended 3 shows on the Purple Rain tour when it rolled through out here in So. California. It's NOTHING like seeing the shows in person of course but this show that u talk of in this thread, which was on Mar. 30, 85, towards the end of the tour, was well captured. There would only be 5 shows left after this show on the tour so I can see that P and the band, at that stage, were trying to not just go through the motions. The crowd response has everything to do with how good a live performance can be. I think because P was sooooo popular at that time, that he always received a wild response from the crowd. Thus, that pushed P to perform at high levels at all times. I liked his performance during the song Purple Rain. Especially during his solo. He was definately feeling it, playing for quite awhile. Which was always a sign that P was into it. When I saw him out here on this tour, at each show, P would play this solo forever. Only at one of the shows though did everybody come out and stand behind him during the song as they did here. I always thought that looked really cool. Was officially released on VHS either as a double set or as a single video. No official DVD release though. It should be quite easy to track down. if you've gotta pay for things that you've done wrong I've gotta big bill coming at the end of the day- Gil Scott Heron
