I don't listen to Prince's remixes from the '90s much but I just dusted of the "Letitgo" single and noticed something odd. I could be mistaken but it sounds like the "Caviar Radio Edit" and the "Cavi' Street Edit" are exactly the same. The word "fuck" is censored in both versions. I'm guessing that the "Street" version was supposed to be unedited.

Also, the "Sherm Stick Edit" and the "(-) Sherm Stick Edit" appear to be identical.

Am I just not listening to these songs close enough or are they the exact same song? I was wondering if this was Prince's way of sticking it to WB?

I also thought it was neat to hear a Grand Funk Railroad sample in a Prince song. I knew I recognised that guitar riff in the "Sherm Stick Edit" but I just now placed it.

Thoughts?

i think there are differences - remember one of the caviar mixes has a rapper on it?

Your ears are not failing you. The versions are the same with the swearing out. Good look on naming the sample; I never knew. Gonna try to find it to listen too. This song is a personal fav of mine. There's a live version that was released on the NPGMC I'm pretty sure.

My understanding was that Prince had nothing to do with the creation of those remixes.

The remix with the rapper on it was done my good friend Quincy "QD3" Jones III....yes...Quincy Jones's son. He is a very well respected hip-hop producer who has worked with everyone from Ice Cube to Tupac to LL Cool J.....and I'm sure you're all familiar with the theme song to "The Fresh Prince of Bel Air"....yeah QD3 did that too

Anyway, to the person that said it's one of Prince's best hip-hop crossovers, I agree, and that's why. Quincy is one hell of a producer.....but how could he not be, considering who his father is! lol

The song is "Nothing Is The Same" from their 1970 album Closer To Home.

those remixes, the Come On remixes & the TGRES remixes are some of the better remixes he's had imo.

There is a difference between the Sherm Stick edit and the (-) Sherm Stick edit. The (-) Sherm Stick is an instrumental.

So that solves that part of the mystery. I think it's safe to assume that the "Cavi' Street Edit" was supposed to be uncensored but for some reason the "Caviar Radio Edit" was used for both versions. Can anyone confirm this theory?

Possibly the only difference is that fact that the Cavi' Street Edit is 2 seconds longer and has a different title. I've listened multiple times. Can't figure it out. I love this mix better than the original. Same for the SPACE remixes. The "Funky Stuff" mix is awesome. Check it out if you haven't already.
