Ich liebe dich, ich liebe dich {"I love you, I love you" in German}

Oh, what a beautiful morning
Oh, what a beautiful ass
Darling, this is my final plea 4 love
Take me now or witness the slow and horrible death of your purple fox
My time is running out
I can wait no longer
I watch as U make love 2 others
Disgusting as it seems, it intoxicates me
U might say that I'm amused 2 the point
Where my blood increases, my heartbeat accelerates
And my mouth waters uncontrollably
4 I know that no man will ever love U like your purple fox
No man will ever kiss U in this lifetime or the next
The way U and I kiss 2night
Take me now as I am
4 I am becoming confused 2 what I stand 4 and desire
Tell me, darling, who I am, who I am, what I am, what am I?
What?

Oh, are these my lips
Or are they petals from some crazy flower?
Oh, are these my hips?
If they are, then they're some kind of powerful

CHORUS:
All day, all night
U can be my baby, I'll make U feel alright
All day, all night
U can be my baby, I'll make U feel alright

Oh, is this your mouth?
Am I swirling in some wet tornado?
Oh, U make me wanna shout
When I'm in your legs, I feel like Play-Doh

CHORUS

Woo, shockalaka
Shockalaka
Oh, is this your house?
Am I in an ocean of desire?
Oh, U make me wanna shout
When I'm in your love, I feel on fire (Ooh)

CHORUS

Aww, shockalaka
Shocka, sh, shockalaka

All day, uh all night, yeah
U can be my baby, make U feel alright
All day, (Lawd) all night (Shockalaka)
U can be my baby, make U feel alright
All day, (Lawd) all night (Funky in here)
U can be my baby, make U feel alright
All day, all night, yeah
U can be my baby, make U feel alright

Shockalaka {x2}
Start, don't stop, make love every night and all day
Everybody sing
Start, don't stop, make love every night and all day, hmmm
Start, don't stop, make love every night and all day
Shockalaka
Start, don't stop, make love every night and all day
Everybody say
All day, all night
U can be my baby, make U feel alright
All day, all night
U can be my baby, make U feel alright
All day

Shockalaka
U can be my baby, make U feel alright
Shockalaka
U can be my baby, make U feel alright
Yeah, shockalaka
U can be my baby, make U feel alright
Everybody say it now
U can be my baby, I'll make U feel alright (Yeah)
(Uh huh)

'shockalaka' is a bit close to "shockadelica."

What is the history of 'shockalaka'? When was it first used?

I know Was Not Was used "acka-lacka lacka" in their hit "Walk The Dinosaur" in 1988.

All Day, All Night
Prince's 26th birthday was celibrated with a gig at First Avenue that showcased new material. "All Day, All Night", along with "Roadhouse Garden" and "Our Destiny" were all premeired at this performance. The 3 songs were later worked on in the studio and "All Day, All Night" was eventually given to Jill Jones for her 1987 self-titled album. Her album version is very close to Prince and the Revolution's live take.

I know I have had this song as sung by prince. I remember it being studio, but then again several of the songs from this time period were recorded live. Either at First Ave or warehouse.

A great song, and I'm really amazed he played it live. The Parisians are very lucky to get to hear it in concert. It comes from an unreleased album called the 'Chocolate Box'(although I'm not sure if that was Prince's title).

My favorite verse:

Or are they petals from some crazy flower?
Oh, are these my hips?
If they are, then they're some kind of powerful

It's Wendy that starts it out. It was recorded live at the Warehouse during a rehearsal. It was June 7, 1984, and the Revolution was rehearsing for the now-infamous First Avenue birthday gig (they played Roadhouse Garden, etc). The rehearsed "All Day, All Night" and recorded it. Wendy did the German part at the beginning. There's a video of that rehearsal (which I think is the best boot video out there simply because it's Prince at this 80's best, in his studio). You can see Susan Rogers running around in the video too. It's a fantastic video, and that's where the song was recorded. Per Nilsen's DMSR book backs up that fact too.

It's a great song.

I like the Jill Jones version but Prince's version is the definitive one for me.

I would love to hear an updated studio version.

Has anybody done a thread with this yet ?

But maybe we don't want to make too much publicity, we need this online for the future generations.

That's the recording session for the song, and the video, I mentioned. I love this. The cam never moves, and it's black and white, but it's an amazing piece of Prince history. This was after "When Doves Cry" came out, but "Purple Rain" wasn't released just yet. A truly pivotal moment. Prince turned 26 that day, cocky, self-assured, and ready to conquer the world.

This rehearsal is the shit. Shows just how they do it and get ready. Wendy all prepped, PR movie and album in the can, WDC having been on the radio as a break out hit, getting ready to rukle the world. Prince dancin around having a good ass time. And the songs Roadhouse Garden and Our Desiny...awesome!

I noticed one of the video's sound was off a bit. Wendy tapping her foot isn't her dancing. It's her hitting a percussion pad on the floor. She did it during another song too, I think. However with the sound off a beat, it looks like she's doing the white girl dance. haha

I with U on that, Jill screamed and wailed like it should have been

I think her album was done a disservice, because her first should have been released in 1982/83 and the 2nd in 1985/86

All Day All Night & G-Spot would have had an even stronger Purple Rainish vibe and probably a Prince and Lisa push behind it.

I love the Prince & Revolution studio cut too
they nailed it @ 1st Avenue
