My God, that confirmed what I always believed to be true. I never thought that Prince was behind that. I just wish he had come out and issued a statement letting it be known that he wasn't for that but even if he did, people wouldn't believe him. Still glad to know that he wasn't down with that.

That is why he did not put out a statement. No one would believe any thing he had to say about it and I think since he signed a publishing deal with Universal I doubt he could do anything about whatever legal action they take outside of leaving them when the deal expires.

What Universal should have been doing was working to collect money from YOUTUBE instead of going after indivuauls. Anywhy it looks like someting has been worked out so I guess we can all move on with our lives.

The laws might be in his favor, but the probability is that he, like many other wealthy individuals wield power just from the fact they have the resources to do so. More to the point, Prince came after the fansites himself. It wasn't some record label but web-sheriff employed and endorsed by Prince himself. It's not a stretch to think he was personally after that woman with the baby considering his representatives were demanding money from the sites simply for people showing their Prince inspired TATTOOS.

So UMG is behind this, doesn't mean Prince can't stand for what is right, at least in writing. But he doesn't even do that.
