Nobody forces anyone to buy any album or concert ticket or fan site membership, or any entertainment/luxury product for that matter. But if you're a fan of a particular artist, of course you WANT to be part of an official/exclusive fan experience. And if you admire that artist, you'd LIKE to have faith that they're going to deliver something satisfying to the fans. So no, nobody was "forced" to sign up for anything, but I hate this whole double-standard argument from fammish types that's all, "you complain about lotusflow3r.com but it's your fault for joining because everyone knows his web sites are a rip-off"

so because some of us actually HAD FAITH in prince and gave him ONE MORE CHANCE to produce a decent online fan site, and because we had our faith cut down by the disappointment that was lotusflow3r.com, that's somehow ON US? i mean, okay. caveat emptor. and really, i was tossing my $77 into the wind and hoping something pretty flew back at me when *I* joined - believe me, i knew what was up - but if we pay our money and a significant number of people feel they didn't get their money's worth, then guess what? that's just how it is. if the little video game thinger you got for $77 was all you dreamed of and more, that's super for YOU. but ya can't be all "prince can do no wrong!" and at the same time be all "prince's sites are bogus so it's your fault" at people who are just voicing their dissatisfaction. there's some really stale pretzel logic going on there and it doesn't get a pass from me, sorry.

If Prince were to invite me to dinner, I'd want something that I like to eat and would expect to be able to have that. If I couldn't, yes I would have a problem with it and would say so to Prince because I'm not afraid to speak up for myself to anybody.

If Prince were to invite you to dinner and served you 3 bean sprouts and some parsley because that's what he wanted, you wouldn't say a word. Even though you haven't eaten anything all day because you were looking so forward to eating dinner with Prince.

Who do you think Prince would respect more? Me for saying, "Prince, I can't eat this bird food, man! I need some real food because I haven't eaten all day." Or you, sitting around for the rest of the evening with your stomach growling so hard, it's drowning out the conversation?

People have every right to complain about his website since they paid 77$ for shit. Doesn't matter that they were stupid for joining in the 1st place, even tho they were stupid. They paid him 77$ to get "exclusive" stuff only to find they can get that stuff for free or much cheaper elsewhere. That's bad business practice.

Well, Anx. See I didn't join Lostusflow3r because I had my doubts over what it would and would not be. I love Prince, but what was being offered (and based on his past history with websites) I was not throwing away my money. And given the fact that I could get the album for $12.00 at Target there was no reason for me to invest $77 in this venture. So I didn't lose a damn thing.

And the fact that the press release focused mainly on the offering of pics and videos and one-off concert stops, I got the hint that members would not be getting loads of actual downloadble music. So yeah, for those long time fans that know how he rolls with this type of stuff, it is on you. Now, for the newbies who didn't know any better yeah it sucks. But then again all they needed to do was read one of the many, many posts of fans who gave detailed reasons why they would not join and they too could have saved themselves $77.

So Prince has created a situation in which long-term fans should NOT support any online venture he ever does? Therefore only new and non-fans should join?
