Nobody forces anyone to buy any album or concert ticket or fan site membership, or any entertainment/luxury product for that matter. But if you're a fan of a particular artist, of course you WANT to be part of an official/exclusive fan experience. And if you admire that artist, you'd LIKE to have faith that they're going to deliver something satisfying to the fans. So no, nobody was "forced" to sign up for anything, but I hate this whole double-standard argument from fammish types that's all, "you complain about lotusflow3r.com but it's your fault for joining because everyone knows his web sites are a rip-off"

so because some of us actually HAD FAITH in prince and gave him ONE MORE CHANCE to produce a decent online fan site, and because we had our faith cut down by the disappointment that was lotusflow3r.com, that's somehow ON US? i mean, okay. caveat emptor. and really, i was tossing my $77 into the wind and hoping something pretty flew back at me when *I* joined - believe me, i knew what was up - but if we pay our money and a significant number of people feel they didn't get their money's worth, then guess what? that's just how it is. if the little video game thinger you got for $77 was all you dreamed of and more, that's super for YOU. but ya can't be all "prince can do no wrong!" and at the same time be all "prince's sites are bogus so it's your fault" at people who are just voicing their dissatisfaction. there's some really stale pretzel logic going on there and it doesn't get a pass from me, sorry.

Those of us who paid for the site did so more to support our favorite artist. I went to the shows in LA, got the free Tshirt and music downloads from the site. So how much further do you want the $77 to stretch to. I am happy with what I got.

Lack of time/money promoting releases
He started off with a pretty good idea with NPGMC year 1, but instead of refining and improving it, his online presence has gotten progressively worse each year since.

There certainly has been some brilliant music in the past 15 years, which is why he still has a fan base at all, but the marketing of it has left a lot to be desired.

People have every right to complain about his website since they paid 77$ for shit. Doesn't matter that they were stupid for joining in the 1st place, even tho they were stupid. They paid him 77$ to get "exclusive" stuff only to find they can get that stuff for free or much cheaper elsewhere. That's bad business practice.

I was not one of those people who was disappointed in Prince's online ventures. NPGMC was an awesome experience to me, especially in the first year. I got more than my money's worth. I joined the new site with no expectations. I knew there was a chance that we would get nothing that was offered. But to expect me to sit back and see content I paid for being shown elsewhere for free and not "complain" about it is bullshit.
