Animals strike curious poses and other questions.

In when doves Cry when it says, "Animals strike curious poses" and Prince poses with his his right arm horizontally and his left arm by his face vertically, what is talking about?

Also, in the song "Welcome to the Slaughter House" What is the Slaughter House? Is it a place like Uptown or Paisley Park?

What ever happened to all the footage in the Purple Rain trailer that was not in the movie and has anyone ever seen that version of Purple Rain?

What is the song "Gold" talking about? What is the main message?

Nice questions biggrin I like discussing lyrics and what they mean or how others interpret them.

I don't know the Slaughter house song or what Prince is doing with his arms in "when doves cry" but "animals strike curious poses" says to me that imagine what animals are like while they're stalking and just about to strike. They're frozen in pose ears sharp, eye alert and ready to pounce. He's asking her to imagine them engaged in a kiss and the courtyard of violets in bloom....all at the brink of exctasy in perfection and then she leaves him standing. Lonely world is so cold...

Gold is surely "don't judge a book by it's cover." All that appears is not always what it seems...Often what you reach for or long for can be disappointing and hollow At least that's what I understand from it anyway. cool

"Animals strike curious poses," ...They FEEL the HEAT between me and U...
I think of that line as literally what Prince is singing. They are curious about the animal attraction between these two lovers.

I am not familiar with, "Slaughterhouse." I don't know what happened to other "Purple Rain," footage.

"GOLD," in my opinion is kind of an alchemical song...We are made from the dust of the Earth which contains all of the elements of life...and our spirit, through it's ascension process become pure from impurities. cool

Are you bored? These are obvious answers. And you're really reading into the way Prince poses his arms??? REALLY??? "oooohhhhh, that means something!" NO, it doesn't.

If you've not heard the phrase "all that glitters ain't gold", go read about it.

If you've never fucked and had animals stare at you, go fuck in front of animals.

If you've never heard of "editing" of a film, take a class.

I've always thought that the opening of "When Doves Cry" tried to give a Garden of Eden feel. So I always imagined the mellow animals in the Garden stopping and staring at the people, y'know, doin' it.

Be civilized
Don't create offensive, vulgar, obscene, threatening, abusive or excessively profane posts. Do not instigate, engage in, or encourage 'flame wars'. If you insult someone "jokingly", be prepared to have it not interpreted that way by the Moderators. A good general rule: "criticize ideas, not people." Any language which encourages conduct that would constitute a criminal offense is grounds for immediate account deletion.

It's BORED. Board is what your mama should've used across your butt.

Second, it wasn't smart ass. You're asking questions that a 10 year old would know, especially the GOLD question. You think PR is the ONLY film to have stuff in the trailer that wasn't in the movie? Paulie. Twister. There's a couple to check out too with the same "issue" going on.

LOL Listen, you responded to ME FOUR TIMES. You're the one instigating a flame war. I, however, answered those dumb questions. I wasn't offensive, vulgar, obscene. I never threatened you, abused you, or was profane even in the least, other than saying "fucked" and "fuck". I DID criticize your questions, because the questions were dumb. I also offered advice in how to get the answers you needed. Let's review, shall we?

Go read about the phrase "all that glitters ain't gold". You'll find your answer.

Go screw in front of animals and watch them STRIKE CURIOUS POSES. What do you think that means? Strike a pose. Yes well we know that. Curious? Hmmm, well could that mean they're CURIOUS about what's going on? "They feel the heat between me and you". It's all about sex. he sure ain't talking about making pasta.

As far as the film trailer.....gheez. Kind of obvious there.

Just do your homework next time. I get tired of people posting things about "Ohhhh, he moved his arm THIS way, does that MEAN something?" Yeah, it means he didn't want to pose it the OTHER way.

"Ohhhh, why did he use a mirror in the video and you couldn't see Lisa or Wendy much? Was he fighting with them and wanted to teach them a lesson? Ohhhhh, I bet that's it!" See, that's silly isn't it?

THAT is how those "Ooh, what does THAT mean" questions come across. Prince ain't that deep, trust. He TRIES to be, and at times, he's almost succeeded, but the only mystery about Prince is people striking curious poses, when he does something, saying "WTF, bro?"
