Bambi

I knew from the start
That I loved you with all my heart
But you were untrue.
You had another lover and she looked just like you
Bambi, can't you understand?
Bambi, it's better with a man

It's so hard to believe
Maybe it's because you're so young
Or maybe I'm just too naive
Who's to say, maybe you're really having fun

Bambi, can't you understand?
Bambi, it's better with a man

All your lovers--they look just like you
But they can only do the things that you do
Come on, baby, and take me by the hand
I'm gonna show what it's like to be loved by a man

Bambi, I know what you need
Bambi, maybe you need to bleed

...now I have my obvious guesses, but what exactly is this song about?
"Not to sound cosmic, but I've made plans for the next 3,000 years," he says. "Before, it was only three days at a time."

Lets do this very simply.
Prince had a love who was a woman who had a lover that was also a woman. Prince is trying to convince the woman that sex is better with a man or him for that matter
Prince did an interview with a woman at Record World. They talked about whatever, then he asked her: "Does your pubic hair go up to your navel?" At that moment, we thought maybe we shouldn't encourage him to do interviews.

THIS song along with "Why You Wanna Treat Me So Bad" is what really made me a P fan. When "I Wanna Be Your Lover" hit, I liked the song and bought the 45. I already had the 45 to Soft and Wet. But it wasn't untill I was over my cousins house and saw that she had just bought the second album did I want to hear what the rest of the album was about. Man, when I heard Bambi and Why You Wanna Treat Me So Bad, I was hella hooked. This album is in my Top 5 favorite albums by Prince. All the times I have seen Prince live, especially early in his career, I have NEVER seen P perform Bambi. The only live version that I have heard of Bambi is from when P opened for the Stones. And that version rocked! It sounded better than the album version, to me. For one, P sung it in his more natural lower register voice. And it sounded cooler. But I do dig the album version too. I like the contrast between his falsetto and the hard rock. One of my fave songs by Prince.

He rocked it at one of his Celebrations! There's footage of him from Tokyo during the 1990 Nude tour, he did this song.

The guitar intro for Bambi on the Nude Tour was awesome, just Prince playing with no other background music.

This song is about Prince desiring a woman who is into other women

during a Prince and the noituloveR/Time jam at 1st Avenue 1982
He opened up with a hard almost metal rendition of Bambi

Listen, this is not a concert ok this is a dance
Listen 2 me now listen, if u can dance 2 this stuff
your a better man than me
Now the only reason why we're here is cause we didn't have
no place else to go
Don't get me wrong
I'm glad you all are here

I haven't cum yet baby

Bambi is one of my favorite Prince songs ever. The guitar on that song is so damn catchy, I find myself humming it all day long.

Yeah they exist.
Usually a blond with huge floatation devices and employed by some swarthy individual for their professional "dancing/modeling/acting" skills!
When eye go 2 a Prince concert or related event it's all heart up in the house but when eye log onto this site and the miasma of bitchiness is completely overwhelming!

My mum wanted to call me Bambi, and I'm a woman, but my father stepped in and said "no". She had a friend who was a model, so that was why. It actually means "little child" in Italian and can be used for either male or female. I do have doe eyes though, brown hair, never stripped, have danced, and all women bleed, it's a gift.

If I remember well, he ones sung "Susannah, it's better with a man" live during the nineties, after he'd found out that Lois Lane singer Suzan Kleman is more into woman than man. Pathetic crusher. biggrin

That's not what Prince is referring to. He's implying she's never been penetrated . . .

Yes, I understand that. I was making conversation in regards to someone else's comment. But I believe your right in your answer.
