Split personality, I guess we're just talking generally...but do we mean in a clinical sense? I enjoy reading your posts because you joke around a lot, anyway you are spot on with this...Prince is short, ugly and introverted...each to their own of course (I mean it's all subjective I know!) most women I know aren't attracted to him..too feminine for them (but then again some women are fickle anyway)...it's his charisma and talent that's the most important...Prince tries so hard all the time to be beautiful with the make-up etc...and do you reckon he wears heels just because 'the gals' like em?! I've always thought Prince tries to be everything to everyone...but life just doesn't work like that...it's not reality and it is the sign of someone insecure deep down...not insecure musically...obviously, he's the master at that...someone should tell him also that fawning after women and putting them on a pedestal doesn't work...'Adoring' them and 'Wishing I Was Your Girlfriend'...doesn't work in this day and age...not sure it worked in the past either!... peace [Edited 9/8/09 3:36am] [Edited 9/8/09 3:37am] Prince could fawn after me and put me on a pedestal.

P: Recent analysis has proved that there are probably two people inside of me, there's like a Gemini, and we haven't determined what sex that other person is yet. O: Did you say I'm not even sure what sex it is (he or she, it is)? Did you say that? P: Yeah. O: I thought I heard that. What I'm getting from you is that you're very much in-touch with both sides of yourself; your masculine and feminine sides. P: Hmm, hmm. Oh yeah. O: And always have been. P: Hmm, hmm. I'm not sure yet but I hope to find out. O: They... like psychologists, therapists... P: Well actually I found out. O: Uh huh? P: Because I took some pre-therapy. O: And you found out that there is another person living inside you? P: This is turning into a Sybil interview. O: No. Does that person have a name that we can call? O: Being of smaller stature. Did it ever make you question yourself? Question your idunno ability to get dates, get women in the beginning? P: No, it questioned my ability to play basketball because I like the hoop, so. O: Did you ever feel ridiculed as a child because of your size? P: Um hmm. O: You did? P: Well, yeah, all the time. O: And how did you handle that? P: Um, that's probably when that person got created. Somebody that cared about you and loved you and be your friend and not ridiculed you. O: Uh huh, what would they call you? P: Everything they could think of; anything small. whatever peanut butter's your jelly? go oprah!! i know a japanese person who knows a woman who went to high school with him and she told me he would sometimes hide behind his sister while walking in the halls because he was small poor little freak

I have 10 voices in my head at this very moment, and 9 of them are telling me that Prince is an artists with a public persona attached to it which is professionally designed by several professionals since decades in order to make him seem more interesting in order to make him sell more records in order to enable him to pay all those houses, parties, cars, chefs, ladies and whatever a pop star needs in order to STAY famous. The 10th voice is humming the melody of "Tetris" all day.
And BTW, I'm extremely sorry to say it, but MZQueen-whatsoever, how about you stop posting all that big daddy bullshit? That's so extremely stupid...

Please allow me to put some context into this thread.
This interview was conducted at a very troublesome period in Prince's life. Just a week before it took place, Prince's son Gregory died of Pfeiffer's disease. Oprah wanted to cancel the interview in the light of this sad occasion, but Prince insisted to let it take place. Knowing this, I find it very painful to look at this interview. During the interview Prince and Mayté somehow denied that the child had passed away - they experienced an extreme form of denial. Anything Prince said during that interview cannot be taken for granted because he must have suffered deep grief and sorrow. His state of mind must be taken into account and might explain for the erratic comments he made...

And one can only speculate why Prince would subject himself to an interview so soon after this tragedy. If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.
