Brilliant song.
Along with 'Purple Music', 'Possessed', 'Chocolate', 'All Day, All Night' and 'Wonderful Ass' it stands out for me particularly, in terms of electro-linn drum funk. Can you imagine an old school A and B side with 'Extraloveable' on the A-side and 'Purple Music' on the other?

One of my favorite Prince songs. I wouldn't even care if he took out the whole rape thing. The groove is upbeat, the guitar riff is jammin, the melody is groovin, it's allll good.
I have two different versions, one from The Work, and one from Electric Intercourse. Same take but different pitches. Not sure which one is the definite one?

for religious reasons BS??? yeah P says some way out shit...So when I herd that line, I was shocked. but not surprized...If that makes sence To let Dez tell it in his book, he was torn between not feeling comfortable doing the racier material as well as wanting to strike out on his own. As far as the way out shit I stated earlier, here's a lyric from P's version of Jerk Out, also from the same period as Extra Loveable. Jerk Out was a song that he also offered to Mazarati but Sir Casey, the lead vocalist, wasn't comfortable with the lyrics...So P edited out shit and gave it to The Time. An original Prince lyric to the song Jerk Out..... "I took her 2 my crib and I tied her up I figured that's what she liked Maybe I was wrong but what the hell It didn't matter 2 me, she was white." wow... thAts kind of racist...lol

His falsetto and his screams are off the hook. I can understand why he didn't put it on the 1999 album cuz he already had International Lover. And it wouldn't have fit on the PR album. But if he had chucked ATWIAD and kept and released The Dance Electric for himself, and named that as the title of his follow up album to Purple Rain, this song would have fit. The Dance Electric
She's Always In My Hair Electric Intercourse Hello God (vocal) 100 M.P.H. Baby, You're A Trip Extra Loveable Looking at this list it looks odd to see Hello there, isn't that a revolution song and the rest alot earlier? it just doesn't look right, unless there's an earler version of Hello that i ain't heard. She Believed in Fairytales and Princes, He Believed the voices coming from his stereo

"Hello" shouldn't look any more "odd" than "She's Always In My Hair" does. Both songs were b-sides to songs from ATWIAD and both songs were from "The Revolution". But so was the Purple Rain album. That too was from "The Revolution". Extra Loveable and Baby, You're A Trip are both from 82, the oldest tracks on my list. But both would have been cool on an album as a follow up to PR. The b side to "America" was "Girl", which is also from 82. THAT didn't stop P from putting it out in 85. [Edited 9/17/09 2:43am] SynthiaRose said "I'm in love with blackguitaristz. Don't make me drag U I can be very cruel Yeah! I'm not quite sure what our Little Prince was thinking when he included these verses. Like today, and even back then, rape wwas/is the ugliest 4 letter word. Swearing is one thing and is easier to accept. It could easily be changed to "I'm just gonna have to make you" but I guess if thats the way he wrote it thats the way it should be played - I'm not sure that lyrics from songs should be taken so literally anyways of course he never meant what it actually means but he was young and I would think probably a bit angry at times.
