It only took 20 years but "Batman" is my favorite CD

I bought this first day it was on sale. I never really got into it that much; except for "The Future" "Electric Chair" and "Batdance." But never a favorite, ESPECIALLY coming after Lovesexy which was then my favorite.

I happened to put it in my changer a while back, mainly for those previous 3 songs, but I put the CD on repeat.

And suddenly, magically, songs that I never really got into are STUCK in my head, like "Arms of Orion." I don't especially want it in my head but it's there.

"Lemon Crush," etc. etc. And even, or especially "Scandalous."

I've had it nonstop for days now and just seems to get better.

Maybe because at this point I have/had zero expectations from it; in the past I was always somewhat put off by the mixing of "Prince" and "Batman."

But, now I kind of just see it as a cool Prince CD. Conversely, I recently bought the movie on Blu=ray and haven't got through it once yet.

!!!?????

Every time I tell Prince fans that this is my favorite album.....they give the the WTF face.

It's just so very different from the stuff he did up till then.

After the dismal success of Lovesexy, Batman(the album) put Prince back on the top of the charts for a few weeks. It was Number One and for good reason. The record totally revisited the sound that made him famous. I disagree with the original post though because I love The Future and Electric Chair. I even liked Batdance. Mostly because of the 1999-esque sampling.

Batman is certainly an interesting album. It doesn't necessarily hold up too good compared to most of his other '80s albums but I think it's as good or better than most of his '90s-'00s albums. It's really too bad that "Dance With The Devil" didn't make it onto the released album.

I love this cd also. I recently bought it online and had a look at the cd booklet & I had no idea that each song was meant for one character. Joker sings Electric Chair, partyman and batdance! and dance with the devil shouldve made it,i guess it was too dark 4 the film.
