Prince jammin' with the fellas? Watching Prince play with Michael B, Sonny T., Morris Hayes and Frederick Yonnet on Leno when they played "Dreamer" and Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers, Jeff Lynne, Dhani Harrison, Steve Winwood at the 2004 Rock And Roll Hall of Fame when they played "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" I noticed just how ballsier and macho Prince sings and plays, which offers a different dynamic to his performances. He just seems like one of the fellas and part of an ensemble than a superstar/diva frontin' a band. Whereas when he plays with Sheila E. and Rhonda Smith on Ellen he seems a little more effeminiate and fey. It doesn't happens all the time, because when he played with Josh and Cora in Londa during the aftershows he could get equally gritty, but name some of your favorite Prince performances where he plays with just the guys. 3121 #1 THIS YEAR

He plays to the style of his backing band no doubt. I was at the 3 la shows & the conga room showcased his rocker side. Very gritty & straight ahead with less showmanship. My favorite incarnation.

That's what I like. Prince just playing. No frills, no chants, just singing and playing. I always loved the New Power Trio of Prince, Michael B and Sonny T, playing with the communal spirit of brothers in arms. And I do love when he plays with Rhonda Smith, Sheila E and Candy Dulfer, when he vibes with them, he seems to smile more. 3121 #1 THIS YEAR
