Cream Ep - who's involved in the phonecalls?

I'm sure, given the age of this EP, the question has been asked and answered before...but I can't find it.

Does anybody know who is involved with the phonecalls.

It obviously sounds like Prince doing the calling.

Also ate they genuine...the second one sounds a bit staged to me

I agree, to me it sounds like Prince himself making those phonecalls..... with an altered voice.

I guess those who answers are just random people,

but it could be band members, who knows.. lol

I thinkntge first one is random but the second one that results in an argument is planned " who, Prince Rogers...oh yeah, I made him"

and the last one is obviously a band relation

I thought the calls were made by Kirk and that the 2nd call was to Prince's stepfather Hayward Baker.

Nelson George is an American journo/music critic/music writer type. He often pops up (or used to) on any mini-music documentary that talked about Prince (I think Nelson George is an "expert" commentator on Black US music and artists).

Much speculation was made at the time that "Bob George" was a swipe at him (especially the phone call part of the song) as he had made some negative comments about Prince around the 1986-87 era.

I don't think the Cream single phone calls have any link to this as it was 5 or so years later.
Just somewhere in the middle,

Nelson George is a black music critic who really lambasted Prince over the years, saying he had lost his edge in music. "Bob George" was partly about him. (The "Bob" being Prince's then-manager, Bob Cavallo.) Prince directly address Nelson in the Lovesexy tour book when he told the story about Camille, and how other said he lost his funk. The Black Album came from all that, in a round about way, too.

Nelson is also in the documentary, Portrait of a Prince, or something like that. (It repeats every so often on VH1.) If you go back and listen to "Bob George", there are two different references to Bob George. Bob being the one who "manages rock stars? Who? Prince?! That skinny MFer w/ the high voice?" Then later when he calls "Is Mr. George home? This is your conscience MFer. Why can't we just dance?"

ernest they mean you typed "go back and listen to (the track) "Dead On It" " I think you meant to type (the track) "Bob George". We get the Bob Cavallo and Nelson George difference.

This seems to be being confused on this forum with Bob George on the Black Album, the conversation that is being referred to was on the CREAM EP and was recorded years later.

I believe it was Prince doing a prank call to his father with whom he had a falling out around this time.
Its clear in the call that he disapproves of the content of Prince's sexual songs and I think he released this in frustration at his father's criticisms.
Whether or not it was John L Nelson or Hayward Baker I don't know but I always thought it was John L Nelson.

There is no confusion. It was speculated that the person they called was Nelson George. Someone asked who that was and that lead to the BOB GEORGE side bar.

I think it was Hayward Baker. But it was not prince making the calls. When did prince and John have the falling out? I am thinking it was after DnP. I know by 97 it was in full swing and had not apparently been mended at the time John passed away.

I'm sure that is Prince, it sounds very much like him. Its kind of the fun side of him, hes known to be a prankster (most of the biographies of him refer to his practical jokes on people).
I think the rift was most strong around 1990 i think (references to it in Graffiti Bridge), i don't think it lasted that long though
