What I meant to mention, and I'm surprised no-one has yet, is that it ALREADY exists... Paisley Park!

It's his own personal shrine/haven/museum, really - the walls and rooms are littered with references to himself (lyrics/images/the prince symbol). There's a walkway which features his various 'looks' throughout the years, one for each year. Those massive eyes of his looking over the atrium. The soundstage. The recording facilities. (I can't tell you how thrilled I was just to touch the console so many of my favourite songs were recorded on... dead drool). The only thing that's missing are the rides... although there's that play area, outside, Mel B had a go on. giggle

I wonder what'll happen to it when Prince passes away?? (Hopefully not for a very long time! pray).

I was gonna say that I would pay a small amount for a Paisley Park tour, as long as snacks were provided donut cookie cheese gummybear pretzel coke hotdog chocolate popcorn
Wait, how did you get to see so much of the inside? confuse

No, that's not his style. However, being from the Twin Cities, I agree with the idea of a Musical Museum featuring Prince and other great artists that have come from the Twin Cities Area. That would be worth visiting.

Sorry - that line just cracked me up! lol hug It sounds like something Christopher would say. lol

This was back in 2002, during the Celebration. nod Ask any other Orger who went - it was just the most unbelievable week... so magical. A fan's dream, really!

It was held for 7 days/nights and - during the day - Paisley Park was opened up and you could wander around, chill, listen to guest speakers (Femi Jiya, Eric Leeds, Sheila, John Blackwell, amongst others. I remember sitting in the NPGMC room, listening to Eric Leeds talk about his art and craft and some of his experiences over the years and thinking 'I could either be in work right now confused..., or sitting with loads of like-minded people, in Paisley bloody Park, listening to a musician talk about his life...'. It was heaven. cloud9). Then, each night, Prince would perform a different set (funk set, rock set, his first ever acoustic set dead)... it was just the most amazing, amazing experience!! 7 days of bliss...

The only thing I was really disappointed about was that, after the first day, they stopped doing mini-tours of the Park (the living areas, etc) because some selfish, ungrateful censored stole something. disbelief I mean, would you go round someone's house and do that?? disbelief So they stopped the full tours after that and I never got to see all the other areas.

Anyway, I'll shut up now lol but just ask anyone who went that week... I don't care what anyone says about Prince, that was a fan's dream that week. Something I'll never forget. mushy

That's funny. I went to the Minnesota State Fair today and saw that Prince illustration. My wife also took a picture. It's on the "Fun House" or whatever it's called. It has a bunch of mirrors and glass walls, so you get stuck inside a maze. My 7 year old daughter went in it. This is one of those semi-trailer rides that get airbrush painted with a different theme every year. This year's theme was rock stars. The ride is on the southeast end of the midway.

Saw the same painting (or damn near) at the State Fair of Texas last year. Apparently Prince has a significant Carnie fanbase.
"What kind of fuck ending is that?"

You're welcome. biggrin hug

I pretty much walked around all week with that expression > eek lol. And, when I came back, it was so hard to describe the thrill to other people. I mean, how many artists - never mind what league they're in, let alone Prince's - invites you into their world like that? And considering how private Prince normally is... Imagine being in the recording studios of your favourite artist, being in their presence, and meeting their band... seeing Prince peek behind a curtain giggle... sitting on the Graffiti Bridge bike spit (there's a godawful picture of me out there, somewhere, doing this. I look like such a nerd falloff)... going to the cinema with Prince... the WHOLE thing was just incredible. cloud9

I think some of my mates thought I was nuts when I first told them I was going lol... however, again, imagine being given that opportunity by your favourite artist - whoever that is... wonderful. mushy

The Celebrations were a blast. Especially the Xenophobia one. The problem is that seeing Prince perform at Paisley Park and being right up at the stage watching the sets jaded me for any future live P shows. It's a problem I can live with, though.

Me too. mr.green

God, that week was knackering dead - you'd be up at 7am to get ready, grab breakfast and make your way to the Park for, like, 9am or 10am. Then stay there all day until 4pmish; then go back to your hotel, change, go back to the Park at 7pm/8pmish and watch another show until 2am/3am. Then back to the hotel and do it all over AGAIN dead - 7 days in a row. I was bloody *exhausted* the final night. lol

I didn't go to any of the other Celebrations but I remember chairs being put out a couple of nights - the acoustic night being one of them. nod I seem to remember there was a bit of a fuss amongst some fans as they'd queued all day, then raffle tickets were handed out, and they had to sit according to what number they had. They weren't happy. confused lol

hug
