Don't really know why, but this song is fascinating. Indeed, it sounds like a vow to the listener. And P has kept his side of the promise.
My fave song of my fave P album. And that says a lot! So, yeah, I guess I got some love for this song. Also love the fact he hasn't played it live...  | |

"Soft & Wet" was the first song I heard from him when I was cruising the record store the week this album came out, they were playing it on the stores system. And that was enough to secure my purchase of that album without hearing another song. But when I got it home, it was "For You" that tipped me off that this guy was unusually gifted, particularly when I realized it was ALL HIM! I wish I could have been in the studio when he was arranging that song, because I have never been able to get my head around how he knew where each note in that flourish of vocals was supposed to go. I had only previously heard that level of wonderment in Queen's "Bohemian Rhapsody". He wove a perfect tapestry of his voice(s), sounded like angels to me - and I was sprung.  | |

It's an amazing song.
For me I like it because it shows a different side of Prince. Very simple, sparse, light yet somehow engaging and dramatic. And it doesn't really go anywhere but that's why I like it. Shut up already, damn. | |
