Great to finally see a show of hands acknowledging TRC's greatness.

It is his BEST ALBUM of recent years.

My estimation is; fans who dislike it seem to prefer the MPLSound to Lotusflow3r.

So if your a MPLSound fan, you will probably have a problem with TRC.

I like it. The music is solid. I can see what people mean by the voice wierding them out.

There are times when the voice almost enters "Scarlet Pussy" territory.

I was at a Best Buy and found a copy of the Rainbow Children for $5.99. Looks like it was the original packaging too, as it's in a paper thinpack as opposed to a jewelcase.

Heard mixed things about it, so I said what the heck, for $5.99 what's there to lose!

I wish he would have done more with this album
There are a lot of good instrumentals, this album musically sounds like Prince
the lyrics aren't always relatable but I like a good number of the songs

Rainbow Children•
Muse 2 The Pharaoh•
Digital Garden
The Work, Pt. 1•
Everywhere•
The Sensual Everafter
She Loves Me 4 Me•
Family Name•
The Everlasting Now
Last December

Reproduction of the new breed leader - stand up, organize

The helix - he might get between them
In other words - intertwine
With the ebony and milk of her thighs

Everywhere
There's a place I want 2 go
Where the milk and honey flow
Without God it wasn't there
Now I feel it everywhere

I just love Everywhere, feels really good

1+1+1=3

let me play with my thang (proceeded by wanking guitar solo)

Prince always had sexual connections with playing his guitar
And also made referce to an instrument solo as masturbation
during a post 1999 show at 1st Avenue "This is a dance"
Dr Fink wipped into a solo and Prince says "He's masturbating..."

another reference 2 masturbation

Mellow

Can I sing 2 U while U bring yourself 2 joy?
I'll go slow at first, while U quench your thirst
Wet circles around the toy
While U bring yourself 2 joy

I have mixed feelings on this album.
On the one hand it ushered in the end of his plastic years and throwaway NPGMC releases.

It's far more organic than anything he'd released in years. And the music itself is sometimes breezy, sometimes thick, and sometimes jubilant all mixed into an oddly murky soup. Musically, he'd not released anything like it since the Symbol Album and Sign of The Times/LoveSexy.

But, it's also bloated and a bit too long. The narration was completely distracting and not necessary, and the themes seemed almost like a spiritual digression from the jubilant 'rebirth' vibe of The Gold Experience and Emancipation.

TRC is one of my least listened to albums, even though musically it stands up in his top 10.
Love

It's a great album. I've always looked at it as a story from start to finish with each song being it's own chapter. The "Bob George" voice doesn't bother me at all. It actually makes me laugh. A great CD. nod
I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

I don't know where you got that logic from cause I love MPLSound and love The Rainbow Children too so I don't find what you are saying to be true at all.

Yeah I do. I love Lotusflow3r as a whole but MPLSound has songs on that that hit me hard and remind me of why I love Prince, so I go back to it more. Not to sound rude but why does that matter any, especially where The Rainbow Children are concerned?

what if i were 2 tell u that, that's the same voice imprint on the rainbow children, and bob george? nod
man, he has such an amazing body of music that it's sad to see him constrict it down to the basics. he's too talented for the lineup he's doing. estelle 81

Merely an observation. Perhaps I'm wrong, but I notice two distinct camps when it comes to Prince and his music, there are those who dig his more RnB, dance/ club type of stuff and others who gravitate to the more experimental, rock, jazzy side of things both of which are of course linked by FUNK...

It just seems that since the release of the Lotusflow3r set that these two camps have become more obvious. I immediately latched onto Lotusflow3r and partially dismissed MPLSound (there are only a couple of tracks on it that do it for me)

TRC falls into the latter category and I have noticed people who really dislike the album are more into the RnB side of things...

Perhaps I'm being too over-analytical, but like I say, its merely an observation... Means nothin' really.
