So Prince Recorded His Purple Rain Guitar Solo With His Tele He recorded Purple Rain at First Svenue in 83',by that time he did not have the cloud. Is it hard to believe he used that guitar? | |

What,im saying its hard to see him playing the solo with the Hohner. i've seen him play the solo with the Hohner lots of times. The Brits and numerous times at the O2 in London. The White Cloud started as a prop for the film. Then after that was implemented as a Prince theme/prop/reappearing motif etc. With Prince it would've been all about the sound. ----------

What,im saying its hard to see him playing the solo with the Hohner. Well he did, and he does, from time to time. at the O2 in 2007 I saw him play the PR solo with the Purple Symbol Guitar and the Hohner tele. He didn't break out the white cloud once. Just somewhere in the middle,

Jesse Johnson played the guitar solo for Purple Rain from behind the curtain at that 1983 First Ave show. Prince doesn't even plug in his Hohner.

On that concert Prince played Purple Rain for the first time. That version after lot of edit turn on Purple Rain album and yes he played it on his Hohner . Have you seen that footage? | |

I can't imagine someone playing guitar behind a curtian for Prince but damn, that picture definatly shows him playing a guitar that isn't plugged in. What's that all about? 3121 | |

The guitar is plugged in.Though wired differently at that time period. The "cheap" hohner pick ups and the array of effect stomp boxes were a nightmare for every sound technician. Prince instisted on playing his hohner and from the Dirty Mind to Purple Rain tours his guitar was wired from the back, kind of hard to explain but if you look you can find pics and you´ll see what I mean. | |
